I am very frustrated and lonely. I was diagnosed 11 days ago and have likely had Lyme for 4 years. I just don't see many people with similar complaints and I know everyone is different but...DOES anyone have jaw, neck and ridiculous spasms.!!! If I don't move much I'm ok. Once I do most anything they start in my face , neck and proceed to my back. I survive on muscle relaxers and walk around foggy because of those alone. Since I started Dixy 11 days ago I now have burning that alternates in arms, toes, fingers, etc. SHarp pains wherever but the spasms are sick. I cannot reach my MD which is another issue. SHe has so many patients, I get it, but I don't know how long this cr--will last. How long can you HERX. Months?? Yes, I am detoxing, following the diet, sleeping, etc.
If one more person tells me I look fine I think I will lose it.

Well, I was going to vote for you, but I've had each of those severely - plus a 40 year old infection to heal from. I healed very well, then got reinfected after my adrenals crashed due to some stress (mostly family related).
The neck and jaw pain - are they connected? Like in meningitis? I got that a lot when I had Lyme. Wow, it's miserable!
Yes, you can herx for many months. I'm an abx failure, and during my year on them, I never once quit herxing and it got really quite severe.
Did you start off on full doses? If so, you may need to stop the Doxy for a few days then restart when the herxing is under control better, only this time start off slowly.
You can increase your detoxing. I'm not sure what all you are doing, but some of us have to do a LOT! I'm one of them. Have you had any gene testing done for the MTHFR and other genes that can make it hard for our bodies to detox? Supplementing for those can really make detoxing smoother if you have them.
I would have muscle spasms that would move my entire arm or leg, or I could have them body wide so that I was "bouncing" (essentially) and would bounce right off a couch, chair or exam table (found out the hard way!) I used to have to get on the floor when they started because I'd end up there anyway.
I can so relate to you saying that if one more person tells me I look fine.... I started coming back with "Whew! I'm so very happy to know that I don't look like I feel! Thank you!!" That usually made them stop saying that - and I would get a look of surprise! LOL! People make assumptions, sometimes too many.
What state are you located in? Is it possible that you could make it to a "face to face" Lyme support meeting if I can help you find one near you? That might be very helpful for you.

Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. I had a lot of jaw issues when I first started getting symptoms. My jaw would lock up, click and grind. If I was eating there were times I wouldn't be able to open my mouth.
If you just started Doxy you are most likely herxing, and from what I've experienced, and heard it can last weeks-to a month. Hang in there and keep on detoxing and getting a lot of rest. Try to relax as much as possible and remember you are on the road to feeling better, you are taking steps in the right direction!

I actually have all three of the symptoms you mentioned. It has just been the last year that I have had the spasms. It happens to me mostly when I am lying down but have had it happen other times as well. It is a very strange thing to go through. I haven't had it enough to affect my life. (The spasms.) I have noticed that when herxing EVERYTHING and more gets worse.
I am doing only herbals so can't comment a lot on the Doxy. I don'y think that the herx are as bad on herbal protocols.
