Do you use Dr. S in Bridgeport CT?

I know we're not supposed to name doctors on this site, but I had some specific questions in regards to Dr. S in Bridgeport CT. He's supposed to be a really good doctor, but before I drive 6 hours to go see him, and dive further into debt, I would like to talk to someone who's seen him previously. I'd like to see if he would do something different from what my current LLMD is doing.

My current LLMD has me on:

Azithromycin
Doxy
Nystatin
Rifampin
Rocephin -IM injection
*all twice daily

I'm not sure what else Dr. S could do for me, and therefore it might not be worth the cost and the hours driving down there.

Of course, if he has a different treatment regime that would be more effective, than it would be worth my time, effort and money.

If you've seen Dr. S, could you give me a quick overview of what his treatment might be? Is it different from what mine currently is?

I just contacted his office, and the secretary said that he will call me back. I left a list of the medications that I'm currently taking and asked if he would prescribe anything different from what I'm currently taking.

The secretary said that he prescribes close to the same medications, with maybe one or two additional abx, but the difference is that he rotates these medications once every two months. Maybe it's the rotation that makes his treatment more effective. It would make sense actually, because it would sort of be like long-term pulsing.

I think rotating the med combos is a good plan - but are you sure your current LLMD wont also be doing that?

Maybe think about discussing this with your current LLMD before paying for another Consult?

Yes, that's a good point. I suppose I could discuss this with my LLMD. Dr. S hasn't contacted me yet. I'll update this post if he does.

I'm not sure how his 2 month rotation works exactly. I'm not sure if it's specific abx that he's rotating, like just take doxy for 2 months, and then take amoxycilin for 2 months, then take azithromycin for 2 months. Or if he maybe does 2 abx every 2 months, and then does 2 different abx for another 2 months.

It shouldn't be one antibiotic for two months, and then another one...etc.

There should be two (or more) at a time. It's alright to start with one...and then a few weeks later add a second one.

OK - so 2 for 2 months, and then switch to 2 different abx for another 2 months.

iI have gone to dr S. He seemed knowledgeable and very reasonably priced. What have you decided? Did he call you back? He is usually good with returning calls.

I live on long island so it was a few hours away. I thought he was pretty good but I had a few issues. One was that he had an accent and I found when I spoke to him on the phone it was difficult for me to understand him. The second issue was that I developed an infection on my foot from cortisone injections for a neuroma and I needed heavy antibiotics so I had to stop the Lyme abx. I was doing ok with the Lyme at that point. Never great but a little better. I stopped treatment for a few years. Just some typical supplements. All of a sudden in January all my symtpoms returned. I started to see an accupuncturist and he has me on banderol and samento and a few other things. I am a little better but not enough. I am actualy thinking to go back to Dr. S. He is very reasonably priced. Most LLMD's charge a fortune. I think his fee is about $300.
Do you live near him and are you treating for lyme?

That's good to hear about Dr S, thanks. I'm currently treating with a fantastic LLMD, but he's pricey and further than I care. I should stay with him a bit longer, as I've just started seeing him.
