Does Rifampin cause depression? or is it the Malarone? or both? I dont have anything to talk about
anymore. I dont feel happy. Just want to cry. The constant pain doesnt help, but I have had pain before and not been this depressed.
Does it stop? how long does it take?
Sad and tired...

Babesia causes depression. And if you're taking Malarone it could be the Babesia putting up a fight.
Same thing happens to me when I take artemisinin.

Rifampin isnt usually one to cause depression. It is suppose to be excellent for reducing brain inflammation that can lead to depression. That being said I have herxed with bartonella and babesia both with wicked depression. Bartonella seems more anxiety panic driven and babesia seems to be deep melancholy type. Dont listen to docs when they say these infections are med resistant. Find the right one and you will notice a change. Actually glutathione ivs thyroid and adrenal adjustments made a big difference for me. Detox detox detox of course. Sorry to hear. This is hard. I know. My pain n depression was and sometimes can be brutal. It doesn't last forever with treatment.

i was on rifampin for 4 months and it didn't cause any mental issues for me so either its an increase in symptoms due to bug die off or you could be depleted of some important. do some research and see if it saps anything from else you need to just barrel through it or lower the dose.
