hi. My daughter had a tick bite followed by a high fever 2 months ago. I have been dealing with Lyme disease for the past year and brought her to see my Lyme Literate dr who put her on antibiotics. After a month we did a blood test from Igenex and these were her positive results:
IGG
31 +++
39 +
41 ++++
58 +
IGM
41 IND
66+
Does this mean she had it and it is gone? I am guessing the more + signs the more they detected?? She also has a high platelet count, low absolute lymphocytes count & high glucose count - does this have to do with Lyme?
I am not sure what my next step should be. She just turned 5 but seems ok. I have read so much about
the disease laying dormant and then coming back. Also is there such a thing as a Pediatric Lyme Literate Dr?? My doctor is pretty heavy on antibiotics and I would rather not do that with her. Any advice is appreciated. I have come to terms with myself having this awful disease but having a tough time knowing my daughter is infected as well.

Hello Madison, welcome to the group.
Your daughter is positive for Lyme.
The 41 band is specific to spirochete bacteria, of which Borrelia is one.
The 39 band is highly specific (in fact, I'm pretty sure the most specific) for Borrelia.
This, combined with a high fever and a known tick bite confirms the diagnosis beyond a shadow of a doubt.
The low lymphocytes could be a result of her body fighting the bacteria. I believe it can also be a sign of certain co-infections like ehrlichia. I'm unsure about
the glucose level.
I know pediatric LLMD's exist, but I don't know any personally. Again, others here will know.
It's tricky with this disease. You're right, the disease, which is laying dormant right now (or rather, is being kept in check by her immune system), could reactivate at any time. Or she could go the rest of her life without any symptoms. I'd lean towards the former.
I understand not wanting to do antibiotics. You could start a herbal protocol with her. Then again, you risk making things worse before they're better. I'm sorry I don't have better answers, like I said there will be more people along with better information.
Several members are also, or have also, treated their kids. Rowingmom comes to mind. Anyway, sorry about
my lack of definitive info, but I wanted to say welcome and give a friendly bump.

Madison2,
if you could turn on your personal mail in your profile we could send you some LLMD's in your area that treat kids.

Fortunately she is young and probably very healthy and able to fight the disease well.
I would recommend treatment with antibiotics until all symptoms clear up. Continue with the antibiotics for 1 more month after that. If the symptoms won't resolve then you may have to add herbal supplementation, I would recommend Buhner's protocol. I also recommend his book, especially if things wont clear up.
In the meantime try to reduce the amount of sugar and carbs she is eating, and let her be herself. Hopefully she'll remain happy and optimistic.
I am not too far away in MA, my wife has it very badly.
