Hello!

I have been experiencing a worsening (flare-up) for a weeks now and is getting worse and worse.

The symptoms that were mostly domina two years ago increased: horrible head pressure-like pain with dizziness. Like somethin is irritating my brain like hell. And two days ago I have neck pain and neck stiffness around the spine and base of skull. Also starting to have numbness and tingling in the extremities and I am so-so tired and sleepy.
I am on ABX for a month now, but until last week I was experiencing improvement without worsening. Can it be a herx after a month of treatment that lasts for longer than a week or does it have another cause? This headache and neck stiffness concerns me...
A also started anti-fungal treatment 3weeks ago (increasing nystatin -> 6x1), and two weeks ago I had a root canal re-treatment done - with that I had also problems in the past (flare-up).

What do you think about it?

Wow, it certainly sounds like a herx to me because you have been through a lot in just 30 days! One of those things alone can cause a herx.

I do not agree with the "power through" the herx mentality. A herx says to me - you are out of balance. You have more toxins than you are able to get rid of. More detoxing would be my first suggestion and then my second would be to back off the meds a bit. But you really should talk to your doctor. Did your doctor mention detoxing at all?

Mouth problems can really aggravate lyme.

Yep, all the right timing for a herx and the symptoms seem to back this idea.

I would encourage you to really increase your detoxing (slowly though, no need to throw yourself into a state of herxing from over detoxing either).

The root canal work not only increased your symptoms (due to the stress put on your body to have it done), but due to the meds used during the procedure as well. Not to mention the Lyme toxins from the treatments you are doing.

I am glad that you are also in the opinion of a herx.

I have also issues with the root canal work - I wrote about in earlier in another post. I have lots of root canal treated tooth. When re-treated and sealed with temporary medicine it causes me temporary relief of my lyme related symptoms too. But when they try to do the final root filling, my symptoms are starting to increase and I will be in a very-very bad shape in a week. When the filling is removed, symptoms almost disappear in a few hours!

So, I got a new final root filling two weeks ago, but from another top dentist, so I was optimist about it, as I did not have increase of symptoms for a week. The increase started one week later this time - therefore I am not sure, but maybe it is just a herx as you also suspect.

I'm not sure if you are already seeing one or not, but most recommend seeing a Biological Dentist as they will understand more about dental spirochetes, which -even though not specifically related to the Lyme spirochetes - would definitely add more stress to your body. An infection of any type while we are sick with Lyme can really make life difficult.

Yes, I tried biological dentist but to be honest, in my country this word has another meaning: here it is rather only a fashion. Therefore they only give some homeo-pill to the patient and make a voll-test and that is all. They don't aware of persistent infection in the mouth :(

I am having the same issues trying to separate the herx from symptoms. It's confusing!
