Herx or something else from repetitive movements?

My main symptom is pain in my arms/hands that worsens with use (hurts in the muscles, tendons and bones at times). The pain extends up into my shoulder muscles and back muscles. I'm not sure why they hurt, maybe micro circulation issues or something else? I have a lot of other symptoms, like body-wide muscle twitching/spasms, calf pain, some neck pain, intermittent chest pain, etc.

However, if I try to work on a computer or write with a pen for a little bit, my arm pain becomes worse. It feels almost like burning in the muscles. However, I've noticed that many of my other symptoms actually get worse/flare up along with it. Tonight my arms are particularly bad after a few hour work session on the computer today, and I've been twitching quite a bit. For the last 1-2 weeks I barely twitched at all, but I was not doing as much work. I've also been getting more pain in other areas like my calf.

My question is basically could me using my arms lead to some sort of herx? This whole thing is incredibly frustrating. Treatment so far has seemed to have little effect. It's been about six months. Not really sure what to do from here. I don't feel like my LLMD is trying to identify the cause of my symptoms and is just sequentially trying different meds every three months. Is there a better approach? I wish I had some sort of answer or clue as to what is going on inside me.

The sad part is that he is searching to find the combo that works for you. We are all so very different and the combo that works for me, probably won't work for you.

He is at least trying new things. I have heard of docs keeping patients on the same combo of drugs for 6 months.

Something will click, I know it.

But I do agree with Girlie and want to mention detoxing.

There was no reason for my aches and pains. They came and went all times of the day and night. I often said to my husband "why now??? I am just sitting here watching tv and not moving?" And the pains would just come.

Dang bugs just do that carp to tick (my humor showing) us off.

Girlie: My LLMD has really been trying to get babesia but I honestly do not think I have babesia. ABX for the first three months were: doxy, biaxin, plaquenil, malarone, nystatin. ABX for the last three months: bactrim, biaxin, plaquenil, malarone, nystatin. Next appointment is booked August 22nd (about a month late) so I'll be on the bactrim etc. for another month. I am detoxing, yeah... The thing is, your pain as you describe it is more nerv related. I don't get any nerve pain I don't think. It's the tissues, it feels like they have changed or something is in them. I can feel the nerves are somewhat strained, when I bump my arm in certain places I'll get an electric shock shoot up into my fingers. But this is a minor issue for me, and feels like it's a result of what is going on with my muscles squeezing the nerve. What makes me believe it is in an infection is that it started in my right wrist after I got tendonitis, and I read in Buhners books that an injured part of the body is where they go and nest initially. From there it spread up my arm and into my other one. When it hit my shoulder one night I could literally see a red patch around my tendon where it was inflamed. I did nothing to injure my shoulder, whatever this is just kind of spread over months. I know you don't have all the answers, but thanks for the words. :)

Peteza: I do get random pains as well, but in very specific areas. Usually my calf will ache for a minute or two then stop, the same area of my neck will act up, parts of my back, and small areas on the bottom of my feet will hurt when I walk. This only lasts a few minutes. But the arm pain is persistent, non-migrating and it feels like something changed at the tissue level.

jrpsf: Before I visited an LLMD and was told I have an infection, I saw multiple physiotherapists and a chiropractor who all tried to treat this as TOS. Nothing helped at all, and they were all baffled. I will read that page and see if anything helps regardless though. I'll definitely try those supplements as well.

I also experience similar sorts of pain, beginning years before I knew I had lyme, either in my ankle or in my arms/shoulder/back area. The pain would show up out of the blue a few times a year (not triggered by anything physical I'd done) and was complete agony. I think it's the lyme (or coinfections) itself and not herx.

A natural remedy I found a few years ago is a product called Recovery, by Purica. http://purica.com/products/recovery It works wonders!

Actually, I found out about it because a dog we had had sorejoints and our vet suggested a canine version of the product which worked very well for her. At that time, I learned that the original product was created to help lame horses and was so successful the canine and then human versions followed. So, I like to tell folks I recommend the product to that the only side effect may be that you "neigh" happily.
