Hi
cookiemagic - welcome to our community!
My husband used to take larger doses of Niacin - and he just got the flushing from it - which is harmless...so i don't know about
your other symptoms...hopefully someone else can help with that.
Garlic has both antibacterial and antiviral effects...so that could have induced a herx.
Another popular protocol is Buhner's. I wonder if that might be more cost effective for you.
Also, some members buy their herbs and make tinctures themselves.
Because you are new here, it would be helpful for you to read through the thread at the top of the page titled: "New to Lyme?..Start Here!" It's packed full of useful information. Pay particular attention to the section on detoxing. This is something you should be starting...if you haven't already.
Here is a link to a list of great detox ideas:
www.tiredoflyme.com/detox-methods.htmlWhen the bacteria dies off - either from treatment...or it's life-cycle - it produces endotoxins that cause inflammation in the body...resulting in an increase in severity of symptoms...in addition to new symptoms.
Effective detoxing will help flush the toxins out of your body. The idea is to detox enough to keep ahead of the toxins to minimize the effects of the herx.
