Well, let's not get into discussing what we did to survive before a diagnosis, okay? LOL! I don't want to have to admit to the things I did to survive!! We do what we have to during those times.
I'm glad you see the dangers though, that's what I was most concerned about
. I tried taking Provigil, but felt like it was doing all the wrong things to me in order to provide more energy - boy was I disappointed!
Holy basil will lower your cortisol, while ashwagandha balances the adrenals and thyroid - so taking both at the same time may not be what you need. Just something to consider. I use ashwagandha, but not holy basil as my adrenal function is already much too low.
That's what caffeine does to me as well. It actually can help me sleep, but the way I feel afterwards is worse, due to the drain on the adrenals. If it is your adrenals though, you will have to stop using caffeine, so if you have some time off that you can arrange with your work while you go through that change, it would be safer, since you are falling asleep while driving.
Do you have a doctor that will give you an adrenal saliva test? It needs to be one that collects saliva 3 or 4 times a day. That way you can see how much cortisol your adrenals are putting out during the course of the day, not just a one time picture like blood tests show. If not, you can order your own here:
