We have lost many LLMD's due to this over the years that I have been here.
Just remember, a negative ELISA means nothing, and since your infection is likely chronic, expect a negative result. This is why we suggest just doing the Igenex testing right away. If you get the Western Blot done, then you have bands for certain parts of the bacteria that will show up either positive, negative or IND. IND is indeterminate, and means neither positive or negative, but a small reaction. A knowledgeable doctor will know this and count it as positive. If you have any IND's or positives on Lyme specific bands, you have Lyme disease as nothing else reacts to those bands.
The CDC even says that the diagnosis needs to be made going by symptoms with the testing hopefully backing it up:
"Lyme disease is diagnosed based on symptoms, physical findings (e.g., rash), and the possibility of exposure to infected ticks. Laboratory testing is helpful if used correctly and performed with validated methods. "

all they get right!
You can see if you qualify for Lyme Tap - " a nationwide patient assistance program to provide assistance for initial Lyme-related lab tests to patients who demonstrate true financial need."
