Hi all...
The more I read, I have to tell ya, I'm scared out of my mind.
I can handle most anything when armed with info but I'm reading conflicting info and I apologize if this sounds silly...I read if you do not manually remove a tick with tweezers, it is still ON YOU or burrowed IN YOU.
I never removed a thing, and my doc just mostly visually identified the bulls-eye rash so I'm sure wasn't intently looking for the tick. I read they feed for a couple of days, then fall off. I also read they burrow INTO the skin. I don't know a thing about
ticks (I have a feeling I'll be learning pretty quickly, unfortunately).
At about
a month out now from my Rainforest hike, and day 4 of Dx and starting Doxy, do I need to worry about
a tick being stuck on me somewhere??? Do they move around after they feed??? My hair is SOOOO thick (it has to be thinned out every two weeks, cut every four, I feel my second home is the salon); heck, I don't think I've seen my scalp in 20 years, lol. Long-running family joke about
things nesting in my hair and me never knowing (ironically, not so funny NOW...)
The article I read said "you'd be pretty blind not to notice..." Ummm...I'm not blind, but, I was on vacation and did have the occasional glass of wine and being by Pike's Market in Seattle, well, lots going on and yeah, I can say I could have had ten leeches on me and probably not have noticed unless they were stuck to my hand, so a teeny-tiny tick??? Yikes...I'm in trouble.
I'm also learning that yep, the 21-day Doxy is great, but, um, NO, my optimistic doctor's crystal ball (lol) is in need of a good Windex polishing. This Lyme's thing is very insidious, serious and multiple lines of different defenses are going to be needed. And since I don't live in New Hampshire and my Powerball ticket didn't produce the desired result, I must return to work in two weeks.
I need to sleep tonight and I won't if I think I have a tick on me, in me, near me or stuck to any of my vacation clothing which I don't wish to re-wash a second time if I don't have to.
