Hi, we found a doctor in BC who will treat my mom with IV antibiotics for Lyme. We live in Ontario, and we are wondering how people travel by plane. We need to know the details, as we have no idea how to travel. My mom is bed-ridden and can only get up (with help) to use the bathroom. Lyme disease has effected her nerves and her muscles. Has anyone else been in the same situation?

That's great that your mom is going to get treatment. I have traveled by plane and I'm not bedridden, but I will tell you that the change in altitude does something. I honestly felt awful after traveling by plane and decided that I would only travel by car when I needed to go back to FL. It may be different for others but that was my experience.
Perhaps you can contact the airline and alert
them to the circumstances and perhaps they can make certain provisions that may make the travel easier. You definitely need to be close to the bathroom. Find out about
bringing food and other items that she may need on the plane. You need this to go as smoothly as possible.

I agree with Krimpet on alert
ing the airline and making sure they know and are ready to be of help when they can - wheel chairs, and more.
Many, but not all, find that their symptoms get worse for differing reasons. Here are two pages that discuss this:

Hi Soulstream - I live in BC - I'm wondering if your mom will be seeing my LLND. He does follow-up appt.s by phone.
You can request a wheelchair at the airport to get her around. But, call ahead first. I took my father on a holiday when he was using a walker...and everyone was very helpful.
How are you planning to get from the airport to the Dr. office? If it's the Dr. I see in Richmond...it's not too far from the airport. I'm thinking about
a 20 minute drive.
Are you staying there for a few weeks for the IV antibiotics?

Thank you for your replies!
My mom has had Lyme for 13 years, and we have been looking for a doctor who will treat with IV antibiotics for 5 years now! She was tested 10 years ago for MS and Parkinsons and she doesn't have either. Is there anyone who has had Lyme for over 10 years?

Yes, your mother is not alone. Gosh, there are many members on this forum who have had it for over 10 years.
Our Traveler had it for 40+ years before she treated and healed.

It is important that she will get treatment, each body is different and it responds at a different pace. Be patient - that is the most difficult, I know. Best of luck

As Girlie said, I've had it for 40 years and then healed. I've talked with many that have had it 10, 20 and even 30 years that have been in various stages of treatment (and seeing improvements), but only a very small handful that know they have been infected for 40 years or more and not many of them are in treatments for some reason.
It "seems" that the longer a person has these infections, the more "basic" they need to start off. Detoxing and supporting the "failing" body functions is the most basic place to start - not with treatment that can overwhelm her body with toxins that are released as the bacteria dies. This alone will help her feel better, but life will continue to be quite the struggle until she has the underlying cause - the infections - treated. There's no telling just how much healing she will get, but if she is anything like I was, it didn't take much improvement for me to feel a LOT better!

Soulstream - has your mom been treating with oral antibiotics...or herbally - in the last five years? Or nothing?

Yes she has been treated herbally but it's not enough.
