I've had lyme for almost 30 years. I can't and never could tolerate antibiotics, so I've done a lot of alternatives. The problem is that I have genetic issues that make it hard for my body to detox and process meds and herbs. So I end up trying something, and even if I try it in small amounts, I end up having to stop because the herxing is too severe. The worst herx symptom is vertigo, which is torturous.

Plus I'm always putting out fires - right now it's gallstones and I'm working on saving my organ and avoiding surgery.

So I have never consistently, aggressively treated the lyme.

So it's very hard and frustrating, but I'm grateful I'm still alive and working at it all.

hi everyone! I just posted about this very treatment! I had my first UV treatment 2 days ago and I am beyond exhausted. Is this a normal side effect? I feel like my body was hit by a bus! My doctor wants me to do a minimum of 20 treatments and I am kinda worried I will keep getting worse and worse.

AngieLynn - you're not the first person who can't tolerate antibiotics. There are many on this forum.

I hope Traveler posts again - she healed solely on herbs.

Have you tried the Buhner protocols? They are a popular herbal treatment choice on this forum.

So glad I found this site! I just had my first treatment of UVlrx for a never ending fungal infection on my hands and a 15 yr viral infection that also won't go away and tends to make me super tired in cycles. I was told there are only 100 doctors doing UVlrx at the present time, and I guess that's because it's really new.

I don't have Lyme's but thought it was important to mention any experience I'm having since there's not much info out there about this treatment, and it's supposed to be very successful for hard to treat conditions...

I'm supposed to start w 10 sessions - 1X per week, more if I want (to pay haha).

I had the first session 2 days ago and felt a little sleepy during the session, but overall I felt fine. Later that night and all since then I've been feeling pretty bad...I guess it's a herx reaction, my stomach is killing me and won't stop making noise, I'm exhausted, skin breaking out on my face, angry - I don't even want to see anyone until this goes away!

I have no real idea how it will work but the doc let me know I could do this or ozone treatments, and that they've had immense success with this one / usually after 4 sessions you'd start seeing improvement. I'm happy to update you guys as I go if you're interested. My next one is Monday.

Right now I just want to knock myself out and not wake up for a while, but I did appreciate that others having this treatment are posting here....please give me any info you have or have found on how effective it's been for you or others. There's not a whole lot out there yet.

I am interested what Dr. does this in St. Louis? I head up a support group here and would like this info!! We have one Dr. and one clinic that does the UVBI and Ozone therapy. New to posting, but been silent here for a while... I did a series of UBI treatments w/ ozone in 2015. I immediately got much better. I have struggled for my entire adult life with something... mercury poisoning, Lyme, Mycoplasma... not sure which came first, but the bottom line is they're all present (or were) and I am dealing with it. I did long term tired antibiotics and just felt awful. It didn't help. I stopped to retreat mercury poisoning, but that didn't help either. Then I found Ozone therapy and UBI. After 2 treatments I was mercilessly sick. After 4 treatments, a burden lifted. I initially did 16 and I had my life back. I was playing softball, doing agility with our dog... but I could never lose the weight I had put on, and I felt awful when I tried to work out. Long story short, I ended up back at my Lyme doc for CIRS testing. The answers were right there. I genetically cannot get rid of Lyme biotoxin and am mold susceptible. Luckily our home tested clean for mold. I started that treatment 2 months ago, and I am noticing improvement, but I am noticing improvement when I do the treatment in conjunction with more UBI. -- I just re tested for coinfections, Lyme and CIRS. My CIRS markers are about the same, Lyme was eradicated (as of this blood test) and I still have mycoplasma. Ironically, I can track that one back I think 25 years... but no one knew what it was. I even had the systemic rash, became asthmatic, was in the hospital for breathing issues... so that might have been the beginning for me. I am now doing UVLrx to compare the 2 treatments. I only have done one UVLrx treatment so far. I need to do a few more I think to have a comparison.

My gut is UVLrx is great but may take longer. The UBI I was doing used UVA,UVB,UVC lights and UVLrx only uses UVA. But we shall see. The treatment was more pleasant from the standpoint they don't have to get a huge vial of blood out. It's just a very calm hour in a relaxing room.

My initial response to each treatment:

UBI - I generally felt very euphoric for a few hours and the herx kicked in later. I generally slept off the herx. Inflammation was immediately gone.

UVLrx - I immediately herx'd. By the time I drove home, my left kidney and back were killing me... Lyme attacked my right kidney and sent me to the ER... the ER didn't know what it was but my family Dr. knew to test for Lyme. I rested for a few hours and woke up feeling much better. Again, I need a few more treatments to really compare. I also like that I can do Myers IV along with UVLrx at the same time as those replenish me.

I felt like I had absolutely nothing to lose by trying it.

I do think ozone therapy is huge in treating bacteria... but we are all different. We all get knocked down differently, and we all respond differently to different treatments.

does this help for chronic lyme? I though the bacteria is deep in organs tissue and muscles, not many spiroquetes in the blood at this point?

This method might keep in in check, but I would imagine an expensive proposition for ongoing mitigation..

Hey claude783, my father has Lyme disease but is not very savvy with computers which is why I am trying to contact you. In an earlier post, you mentioned having an electronic copy of books and resources for Lyme disease and if someone gave you their snail mail address you could send them some resourses. If that offer is still available I would so greatly appreciate it. I am also very I terested in your home made light treatment device. My father has had Lyme now for five years and at one point was receiving UVLrx treatments with great success but the government in NY just recently shut them down and now he has declined in health dramatically since stopping treatments (3 months ago). Any info or help you could provide would be great but please no spam. thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Interesting, the UVLRX at my doctors is stopped now, too. Something about the study having to be rewritten before it can be resumed.

We can't do UVLrx because there are some serious roadblocks with this that is preventing doctors from using it. Our NP gave a long explanation of all of their issues, and I can't begin to summarize it.
Long story short - it's very disappointing. I'm very disappointed. Our NP thinks they will come around, and he is very excited and optimistic about the positive effects of using it (as well as our functional medicine LLMD is excited about this technology too).

EVEN IF they get it up and running, I was told they will probably be capping the age at a minimum of 18. That doesn't affect most people here on this board, but it affects three in my family alone!

I am the author of this Forbes article UVLrx Therapy Lights Up Charlatans Dealing In Medical Devices, which appears to have had an impact in exposing the con-men behind the UVLrx device.

I'm working on a follow-up story and would appreciate any leads you can provide me about the device being recalled and the "clinical trial" being shut down.

I did 13 of these treatments over this past spring and had zero results (except for an extreme deficit in my bank account. I am so sick of the lyme dr bs money making machine :(


Also, wasted thousands on LDI treatment from the Dr. in Alaska...non-reimbursable, unproven, experimental and did nothing for me,

I now started with another "LLMD" who wants to charge me $1200 for some mitochondrial testing from England and then wants to do unproven, experimental lipid IV's for $700 each (and supposedly I will need at least 10 of these...)....totally non-reimbursable...this is an LLMD who speaks frequently at ILADS meetings. ***?

I am in more than 40K debt from this nightmare
