Looking for LLMD in/near Ontario

Hello,

I am looking for help finding an LLMD in Ontario (or simply a doctor who is knowledgable about the disease) who can either take me on as a patient or consult with my GP.

I have been ill for the past three months with what began as a flu-like virus and has included along the way a list of symptoms that wax and wane including: chills/ sweats/ flushing, strong headaches, indigestion, cloudy thinking, exhaustion, heaviness in my legs when lifting them, palpitations, and more recently severe pain in the cervical spine which makes sleeping through the night difficult.

I was tested for Lyme through IGenex and my GP believes my tests are inconclusive and is not sure how to proceed. She is open to treating me with long-term antibiotics but doesn't want to do so if it's not warranted.

Any referrals or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry for the reason you're here but, glad you found us.

If you haven't ​yet​, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists, helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections, information on probiotics and much more. For information on finding a​n ILADS ​(International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society)​ trained​ Lyme Literate Medical Doctor(LLMD) in your area, you will need to enable your email option in your profile in order to receive any recommendations, as we don't allow doctor's names and contact info to be posted on the forum for several reasons. You can enable your email option in your profile, under 'edit profile'. Be sure to click the submit button to actually save your preference.

​You can send Traveler an email by clicking on her screen name or the small blue envelope under her screen name. She may have contact information for some LLMD's in your area as well.​ ​Please include your state (or province) and area that you would like to find a LLMD in and she will be happy to share the names that she has.

You can email the Tick-Borne Disease Alliance at [email protected]​ for LLMD referrals and you can go to ​tbdalliance.org​​ to learn more about these infections.


You can go to The Lyme Disease Association and search for LLMD's 3 times in a month. You have to register first. Here is the link:

ILADS has their own referral system as well:

​ You will want to find an ILADS trained doctor, not one that has self proclaimed themselves as a LLMD or an ID Doc (Infectious Disease Doctor), as ID docs believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. Go to the ILADS site to read the new (2014) Treatment guidelines to get you started on your healing journey:

I am also in Canada, but on the West coast.

You can also email me for the list that I have. The LLND's in Ontario aren't able to prescribe antibiotics, but will treat you herbally.

Quite a few patients from Ontario fly out to BC. and have an initial consult with a LLND, and then do follow up appts via phone or Skype. So, if you're wanting to do antibiotics, that is an option (if you don't want to go across the border).

I'm actually born and raised B.C. myself, from Vancouver but have relocated to Ontario just over a year ago. Also to be 100% upfront, I am here on behalf of my fiancé who is the one infected. I'm simply doing the research/legwork since he really is not able.

I did read of a very interesting doctor in B.C. however, with him helping those with Lyme, his license was not renewed but I saw he continues to do phone consultations...have you heard of this person by chance?

Are you referring to the retired LLMD Ernie Murakami?

He is a wonderful, caring man who is dedicated to helping those with Lyme disease.

I have spoken to him several times now....I phone and leave a message and he always calls me back.

Sick5 - There are LLND's in Ontario - but no LLMD's.

Email me and I will give you all the information I have...there may be new contacts in my list I didn't have a year ago.
