Need wonderful pediatric Lyme & co doctor reccomendations for my 2.5 year old son

Hi everyone,

I need an amazing pediatric Lyme & coinfections literate doctor for my 2.5 year old son.

I am feeling more and more that Whatever I have had for years (Lyme and co) I probably had when carrying him in pregnancy. He has always had issues with too much noise and light. Now that I am taking amoxicillin and still nursing him he is complaining of his feet feeling buzzy, having increased intolerance to light and sound, and is more irritable than normal. I think he could be either herxing from the little amoxi in my milk or displaying worsening symptoms of Lyme or whatever else he could have from me.

I want to get him tested in the most accurate way possible if I'm going to put him through getting blood work. And I need a wonderful doctor for him.

I am in NYS, upstate. I would travel pretty far for an excellent doctor. Connecticut, PA, NJ, VA, etc. or if you have a recommendation within NYS too. I just don't want to miss it if he does have these things from me and if he needs treatment. It's so hard because toddlers say the weirdest things and you never know but I just don't want to be wrong.

PS- this is my second morning of feeling like my old self years ago. I feel better than I have in years - it is bewildering and eerie. I know I will herx through the day as I take my doses of amoxicillin but it is incredible to feel such a feeling of well-being for the past two mornings. I did not realize all of the symptoms I have been having for years were not normal until now.

I'm so glad you are confronting this possibility and are going to take action!! As an adult that was infected as a child, I can tell you that growing up with these infections can be challenging and can really limit the child's potential!

I do have some Pediatricians on my list, but I don't know what they are like. If you would like to send me an email, I'll still be happy to share them though.

And, congratulations on feeling like your 'old self' yet again today!!! turn Every little bit of good helps!!!

I commend you for being in tune to what he is going through! You are a good mommy and he is lucky to have you. If you find a LLMD you may want to have him tested through Igenix before seeing the Dr.so that you don't have to wait for any tests...although they may still need to do a few.

Traveler, I would go ahead and send her your list because mine is pretty short and limited to a few big name LLMDs. There are so few treating pediatrics and we felt strongly with going to the best possible one we could identify and get ++ recommendations.

yancync, I was bitten by a tick and did 2 months of antibiotics. We co sleep with my daughter. She sleeps in the middle. We didn't find the tick that bit me for 3 days. She's been exhausted and itching every where constantly. Is the itching a symptom of lyme and how long does a tick look for a new host? Worried the tick might have gone to her after me while we were sleeping or vice versa. Thanks for the reply and to anyone else who might answer.

NYCLyme, I can imagine you are worried about her. I'm just a parent not a Lyme expert so I'm not super familiar with the biting cycle of ticks but from what I recall if a tick just ate, I think it takes a break before it eats again. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can reply.

I've not heard of itching but it seems that pretty much any symptom combined with a few others can indicate Lyme. The exhaustion is definitely on the list as are rashes - not just a bullseye but generalized rashes. I'm not sure how old your DD is but if she's young they can be tired from just being in a rapid growth phase. If she's collapsing after just a little bit of play time or walking or just wanting to sit around all the time when she's usually lots more active then I think I would be wondering if she had something. It's hard with the little ones to know what's going on especially if they aren't talking much yet.

yancync, thank you for your reply. Just seeing this now as I didn't receive a notification in my email. I thought we would get notifications when someone replied. I could be wrong. Looks like she has her energy back but her feet are peeling now. Now sure if this is a symptom. I'm just waiting to find a great NYC lyme doctor for me and then I will ask him/her about testing my daughter as she seems to be doing well now but I know how Lyme works in terms of hibernating. Thanks again for responding! :)
