Minocycline + arthritic forearms and wrists

I'm currently taking 3x100mg Minos a day one in am two in pm, they give me throbbing arthritic pains in forearms and wrists, more so when I take 2 obviously.

Is anyone else, on this much mino? Does anyone have similar reaction to them? Herx I think

Sounds like a herx to me. Lots of lemon water is your friend at the moment. Try to get your pee as clean as possible. sorry for the pain. Hope it settles soon for you

Austin - The usual dose of minocycline is 100 mg twice daily.
I actually have not seen that high (300 mg daily) of a dose yet.

I would try 100 in a.m. and 100 in p.m. if I were you.

I see you were on mino in 2015 - was it 300 mg daily then, too?

Cool, I thought my doc was trying to kill me too, the double mino plus septra made me feel like I just went on a 3 day bender. Feeling light headed and toxic but pains are subsiding, die you spirochete scum!

My mino dose was always 200mg a day, doc actually took me off mino because they thought I was having negative reaction to drug. Could sense some frustration in docs voice when prescribing me 3 a day because I was calling in a lot due to serious pain.

Also, you recently re-started the mino, right?

Mino gets into the head pretty good...and there can be dizziness, light-headedness from it at first.

If you have pain only because of Mino, you must speak to your doctor, as Mino can be the cause and you should prevent further damage

Girlie- been on Mino 6 days now, hadn't experienced lightheadedness before today, did some lymphatic drainage and sauna and think it is toxin overload. Gonna drop the 2nd Mino in the evenings.

That's a good idea - I've never seen mino prescribed at 300 mg daily...until now that is...

I've been on minocycline for a month now with 2-3 more weeks to go. I only take 100mg in the am and 100mg in the pm. My Dr. started with only 100mg and once he saw I could tolerate it he increased it to 200mg, I don't think I could tolerate more. I was having major arthritis pain when I first started but it went away after a few days. The only side effect I notice now is dizziness and lightheaded.

I've been light headed and dizzy for two days now, feels like a hang-over. Is this just the mino, or a Herx? I hear lots of people talk about mino and lightheadedness. Should one continue.

Ps: told doc 3 mino was killing me, they told me to stay on 3, wow

first - if you need to go down to two a day - by all means do it...especially since that is the usual dose of mino for lyme.

When i was first prescribed mino, my LLND had me start on 100 mg once daily..because of the 'head' issues...and this is not a Dr. who usually starts things off slow...so it must be a significant, well-known issue.

I can't remember how long I was on 100 mg (I could check my messy notes if you want to know) - but at least a week ...or two...before going to 100 mg twice daily. His instructions were to increase if the dizziness/etc. abated.
Mine did, so I did go to 100 mg twice daily.

Just do 100 mg twice daily - at least for the short-term...see how it goes.

If your symptoms don't get better, then drop again to 100 mg once daily.

Are you detoxing?

Girlie- I'm detoxing liver gi, renelix, itires, even bought a sauna and put it in extra bedroom, money well spent. Lymphatic drainage massage as well. I know I should be doing Epsom salt baths too.

I was having serious pains every minute when on nothing, hit it with the triple mino+Septra and knocked them down to about 10% within a day, was like dropping a nuke on them, and myself.

Im down to one mino a day right now after super toxic episode the other day when taking 3. Still light headed on one, but getting better. The headiness definitely starts about 20 mins after ingesting mino.

Okay - glad to hear it's getting better on the one.

I guess that's the price to pay when you get good levels in the CNS?

I was on it for a few months...it does get better over time.

It's been 48 hours since I took abx, Septra,mino, cefdinir, still light headed and hung-over feeling.

Cause for concern? Or wait it out?

I'm switching to herbs, abx are hell.
