Hi Bunsie, welcome to our community!
I am a fellow Canadian from B.C. We get better care here when it comes to lyme disease. I'm not sure why Ontario is so far behind.
To help with the herxes...you should be doing multiple methods of detoxing - daily. The detoxing will help flush out the toxins that are created with the die-0ff of bacteria. Flushing out the toxins will help alleviate the herx symptoms.
You can start now...so that when you start the antibiotics, you have a good detox protocol going.
Here is a link to a website with a lot of good detoxing ideas:
www.tiredoflyme.com/detox-methods.htmlThe first three methods I do (along with others):
Activated charcoal
alka seltzer gold
Apo- Hepat
Activated charcoal is a binder. It will bind to the toxins in your digestive tract and usher them out. It needs to be taken a couple hours away from everything else - food, supplements, antibiotics.
So you need two hours on either side of taking it.
Alka seltzer gold - I don't think it's available in Canada...I order mine from either Amazon or iHerb.
It helps to make our system more alkaline.
Apo-Hepat is a liver detox.
In addition, I also take warm epsom salt baths.
I dry brush my skin before the baths.
Drinking minimum 8 glasses of water daily, is also important.
If you're not already taking probiotics...I suggest you start now...and continue throughout your treatment.
So, when you start detoxing...start with one or two...and add in a new method ever couple of days.
How do I cope not knowing when I will get better? Well, some days are better than others. On bad days...it's a struggle - emotional, and physically.
But, this is why this forum is so great. We are here to support each other through this....sharing our ups and downs along the way.
Hang in there...there's a lot to learn...please ask any questions that you have...we'll be here to help you.
