GH,
Can you expand more on what it is you cut and what it is you now eat? While each person is unique, curious to hear if you feel it was gluten, sugar, etc... Thanks.
For me, I cut out eating a lot of acidic foods. That includes reducing animal protein intake to only once or twice a week so that really limits your options of what to eat. I was already dairy free but I did reduce gluten as well. Now, I usually eat a organic spinach salad for lunch with almonds or walnuts and either mandarin oranges or watermelon for my salad dressing. I sometimes add craisins and goat cheese or feta. Now, I eat animal protein about
once a day or once every other day and I can tell I'd be better off if I reduced that some. My eyes and memory aren't what they used to be.
My disease is a polyamine based disease. My body creates too many polyamines which is what happens to people who have cancer. I need to decrease polyamine production and one way to do that is to limit nitrogen intake which means limiting amino acid ingestion. I still need essential amino acids so I don't think cutting out protein all together is my best option. When polyamines are made, hydrogen peroxide is produced as a by-product. That makes since because the body wants to kill the pathogens and one way to help that is to increase polyamines (which occurs through the cytokine cascade.) Another by-product of polyamine production is Beta-aminopropionaldehyde. This can show up physiologically like someone who is PKU or has elevated phenylalanine levels. This can cause issues with Tyrosine which affects both Thyroxine and melanin and ultimately Dopamine. High acid or low pH levels turn phenylalanine into Phenylpyruvic acid which ultimately has to be broken down using glutamate. This is why alkaline foods are so beneficial to me. I did not even expound on the effects that eating alkaline has on my GI flora. I researched dozens and dozens of scientific articles before changing my diet.
