I love beer and wine as well and have to say there is hope.
After 100 days of abx I kicked the Lyme and started up with a glass or two or three of red wine with dinner. Within a month or two was back in full drinking shape, could play a round of golf with the boys and drink whatever all day, though was a bit of a lush compared to old self.
Had a relapse though... I blame the prednisone, not the alcohol. Tried drinking whatever playing a round of golf with the boys on abx, puking insued. Liver angry! Dropped the abx, getting back to a glass of wine with dinner.
Abx made me feel worse than alcohol ever has, I know I'll catch flack for this but I think LLMD's are a bunch of quacks just trying to sell you a bunch of pills, that lead to you needing more pills. They nearly killed me. Remember they operate with no liability. They are experimenting on all of us, if you notice everyone on this forum has taken multitudes of different drug combos all to no avail.
Taking herbs, drinking wine, make the pains tolerable. Abx will kill you.
Not giving you any flak, just wanting to set the 'record' straight.
Abx won't kill us, unless it's an over use or if the person is allergic to it - although not every heals using abx, using them to treat these infections can be extremely useful. LLMD's are not operating with no liability, as a matter of fact, they are heavily scrutinized than any other group of MD's - and some have paid dearly (loosing their practice) for trying to help Lyme patients.
So, have you switched to an herbal protocol?
Prednisone has warnings all over it about
not using it when there is a suspected infection because it lowers the immune response.
With this said, I did not fare well with abx at all, as a matter of fact, I nearly died trying to use them, but that in no way means that they aren't effective for others. Some of our bodies simply can't handle using them.
