What does your air hunger actually feel like? I dont know whether i i have it or sleep apnea. But everytime i close my eyes to go to sleep i shoot up gapsing for air and my heart races. Im okay if i sit up and stay awake its when i try to sleep/fall asleep i cant because i get this overwhelming feeling in my body that i have no oxygen so i shoot up
For me personally, it happens on and off throughout my daily life, not just when I am sleeping. Last night was the first night I was woken by it. I guess the best way for me to describe it is an inability to get a satisfying breath. Imagine foam padding on the inside of your ribs next to your lungs. It feels kind my lungs expand, but not to the full amount that they should because a pressure, in this example the foam padding is preventing them from doing so. When this happens, it doesn't matter if I breathe slow or fast, am stressed or anxious or not, nothing helps but trying to stay calm and just wait for it to end. I am completely victim to the symptom and inhalers don't help at all. I get light headed, and after the air hunger anxiety can start, severe enough that I have punched holes in walls just trying to get a grip and get through it. It isn't pleasant at all, but if yours only happens during sleep I urge you to get a sleep study done. Can't hurt to have peace of mind.
