Buhner dosage Confusion

I am a little confused about this. It says in his book on the core protocol that the dosage for Japanese knotweed is 1/4-1 tsp 3-6 times daily. Are those actual teaspoons? Because the 4 OZ bottles contain only 24 tsp and on that dosage I would eventually be at 6 tsp a day which would only last me 4 days.... This can't possibly be correct can it? That would be like $25 every 4 days just for that one herb. Or by tsp does he mean like 1/4 of the actual dropped that comes with the tincture?

Khawadash....you do not start right away with that amount either.
first you do 1/4 tsp a day....then you keep moving up the dose.... 1/4 tsp 2 times a day....then 1/4 tsp 3 times and 1/4 tsp 4 times.
Then the following week you up the dose a bit at the time. you can either do 1/4 tsp =1/8 tsp or 1/2 tsp....then 1/4 then 1/4....and 1/4......
following day you do 1/2 tsp...then 1/2....then 1/4...then 1/2.
And perhaps that dosage is even too strong.
What I am saying....and other here will most definitely is that you do really little at the time.
Before you have it down to 1 tsp 3 (or 4, or more times ) daily.....is going to take you a very long time.....so that $25 is more like spreaded in few weeks.
I am doing capsules and as I am increasing (I am already at 3 capsules 3 times a day +2 capsules 1 time a day). I split my capsules into 4 daily doses.....

Do you guys have any recommended places to buy in bulk? The powder? I'm very overwhelmed looking at all the info for starting. The protocol. Just want to make sure that I'm getting the right stuff and forms of it the first go around to be as economical as possible.

You can buy them at 1stchineseherbs.com, Green Dragon, and Montana pharmacy, those are places I have used....they either have all of them all one that the others does not.
I bought capsules and tinctures at first in smaller sizes....now under suggestion than others here, I am buying larger bulk sizes and will have to make tincture on my own. I cannot afford $12.50 every 7-10 days of just one herb....because the thing is that is NOT the only one I need.

The core minimum protocol is 3 to 4 herbs......
If you buy the Green Dragon Capsules (I think this is a real good deal 360 capsules and each has 5 herbs). You could start with that.
Others will tell you to begin with the 3 basic ones

Japanese Knotweed

I both all the above separately at first....

Since the herbs work synergistically....get all of the core herbs in at low dose...then start upping the dose of each - one at a time.
(Instead of ramping up one first...and then adding in the second)

It will be more effective to have three herbs in at low dose...than one herb at higher dose.

The problem with doing the 'all-in-one' capsules - if you have a reaction..you won't know which herb caused it.

Is it possible to open up the capsule and take a half of it?

(That won't help with knowing what you react to, but at least it is a smaller dose)

If you could split it, and take the lower dose once a day for a few days...and then twice a day.

If it's all good, then take the full capsule once daily.....and then after a few days go to full capsule twice daily.

Are you detoxing - multiple methods regularly?

Some that I do:

- Drink 8 glasses of water daily (peeing a LOT)
- Add some fresh squeezed lemon juice into some glasses (I drink with a straw - it bypasses the teeth..lemon juice can cause some damage to tooth enamel. Also rinse your mouth with clear water after)
- warm epsom salt baths (not hot)
- dry brush my skin before the baths
- Nutramedix Pinella (with the burbur)
- light exercise most days
- alka seltzer gold
- binder - eg. Activated charcoal
- Curcumin
- Apo-Hepat (liver detox)


Ones I do daily...or almost daily: Pinella and Burbur, light exercise, Curcumin, Apo-hepat, activated charcoal

Ones I do 3-5 days a week: dry brush, warm epsom baths, alka seltzer gold.


Also - are you taking probiotics daily?

NOTE: when you take a binder, you must take it separate from everything else. It will usher everything out of your digestive system.

So, a couple hours away from everything else.

Pinella is a nerve - brain cleanse.

I put it in the same glass of water with the Burbur.
Don't add more than one new detox at a time


My LLND sends me HMF Forte probiotics.
I also buy another one from my local health food store - from the fridge.

And, I buy Kefir from the grocery store.

So, I take all three each day.

When I was at my maximum dosage of herbal tinctures, my 4 oz bottle would last me a month if I was taking the tincture 2 droppers full, 3 times a day.

Some of my herbal tinctures I only took 1 dropper full, 3 times a day and so that 4 oz bottle would last me 2 months.

Yes I am sure I gave you high doses as I said.....Girlie is correct..... I actually have you the capsules because of convenience also listed ingredients were not a frequently causing allergic reaction. I did not buy the capsules with Astragalus for that reason. I had a feeling I could be the 1% allergic to it.

I also had to switch probiotics and because the one I was taking was a yeast probiotic and consistently gave me heart-burn. It would last for 24 hrs.....and nothing would calm it....yep not even aka seltzer. Also my heartburn issue seem to heighten during ovulatory phase and luteal phase of cycle.

Here's one using 1 tsp 2 times a day.
Black walnut powder 1/4 cup
Artemisia Annua (Sweet Annie Wormwood) powder– 1/2 cup
Ground cloves powder– 1/4 cup
