My friends son round rash

It sounds like it could be a bulls-eye rash from lyme.

Pediatrician said to put cortisone cream on it. He said that if the redness is less in the morning after the cream then it isn't Lymes. Is that true?

Thank you for getting back to me. I am pretty sure they just noticed it, but I will ask her. How long does a EM rash last? I appreciate your help. :)

I recommend your friend seeks out a LLMD a.s.a.p. - this really looks like an EM rash to me - and if that is the case...then he needs treatment.
The best chances at this not becoming chronic is to treat right away.
He will need antibiotic treatment for 6 weeks minimum. (per LLMD - Burrascano's Lyme treatment guidelines)

As I said - in my opinion it looks like a bulls-eye rash. This is going on photos I have seen on the internet.

Better to be safe than sorry - looks like an EM rash, but it could not be as well. I would demand the 6 weeks and get him on two really good probiotics, 2x a day. I like Garden of Life and Renew Life (both refrigerated, chewables) for kids. Maybe even go a step further and put Amazing Grass green powder in a drink/smoothie for bfast every day too. It has some good pre/probiotics in there to hopefully help keep his good gut flora around.

I too would encourage you to suggest that they get their son (along with that picture) to a LLMD to be sure it's not a bulls eye rash. If there is any clearing near the center, please have them continue to take pictures to show how it's developing.

Dans - I don't know if you will be back to read this post...but if the wait time for an appointment is many weeks...or even a couple of months, she needs to explain that it is a recent bulls-eye...maybe they will make an exception and squeeze her son in.


Also...if nothing else...ask to be put on a cancellation list...often an appointment will come up quickly.

From what I've read, there are lots of different bull's eye rashes.

Mine cleared in the center, looked like it was painted on, and didn't itch or hurt.

My husband had a big red, hot, hard oval, raised knot with a tick attached to the center. After a few days, the center of his looked like poison ivy, with oozing blisters.

I saw pictures of rashes that looked like mine and some that looked like his. I am sure my grandson had one, too, and his was one solid, hot-pink circle the size of a dime and it was on his cheek for a week. His also appeared to be painted on, and didn't hurt or itch.
