What I'm learning is that sometimes we just aren't really giving the body what it really needs to heal. The body is not going to heal without giving it basics and in the right amounts. Vitamins, essential and non-essential amino acids, cellular repair, gut-healing etc. In some situations our bodies are so nutrient deprived that it cannot go through the repairitive and syntheses processes that are required. Remember we might be shoveling things in our bodies that aren't even being processed because of gut issues.
Many people without Lyme and co-infections suffer from leaky gut. When we have bacterias, viruses, and fungi where they don't belong, often leaky gut occurs and that alone can add symptoms. Some people think that leaky gut only results in gas and bloating, but it actually can cause great distress in the body. Brain fog, muscle aches and pains, anxiety, depression, IBS, food sensitivities. Oh and it often leads to leaky brain.
So if you are getting worse I would work with a functional medicine doc or nutritionist to possibly identify other things that could be impeding your progress. If your doctor is already familiar with these other possible issues, but if you haven't looked into them, it's worth it.
