Diflucan & Zithromax for lyme,strep b, mycoplasma

Hey guys. Been having symptoms for years started treatment this year after

positive test.

I have strep lyme and mycoplasma. My LLMD put me on doxy for the past 6

months.

My Lyme symptoms and mycoplasma count have responded well. But the strep

Is unaffected.

He decided to put me on zithromax 250mg once a day and diflucan once a week

200mg.

I am not a big fan of antibiotics and am nervous about the side effects.

Especially from taking these two together.

I have experienced heart palps in the past but seem to be improving over

time.

I have read about how zithromax is a powerful antibiotic and he wants me to

be on it for 3 months.

I am worried about the effect this could have on the liver. Has anyone

taking this combo or any information? It would be greatly appreciated

If you haven't yet, it would be helpful for you to read through our "New to Lyme? Start here!" thread that sits at the top of the forum. It's truly packed with important and helpful information.

Are you currently detoxing? Detoxing will help push those toxins from the abx and from the bacteria dying out of your body. There are some really good detoxing suggestions in the "New to Lyme? " thread.

Also taking milk thistle will help protect the liver. There are a few of us that can't take milk thistle though because it's closely related to rag weed. So if you know you have a rag weed allergy, use with caution.

Things have been a little slow today here on this forum, so please be patient as others will be coming along to share their experiences soon, I'm sure.

Hi Thurso

I guess the strep infection is an intestinal strep overgrowth?

My doc used Erythromycine (enteric coated, very important), alternated with strong probiotics on me.

He also uses Clarithromycine and Azythromycine (Zithromax) for it. Also in combination with strong probiotics.

Traveler, I am currently not doing any detoxing I did try some in the past. I do have some milk thistle.

Is it safe to take it while on diflucan and zithromax?




MarieLS, I am not sure. He sent me for a blood test for it. Anti DNAse B Strep Ab.

My doc mentioned I should eat yogart daily as a probiotic. I have not been doing that the whole time I was

Doxy. I guess it is really important to take some form in pill or food?

Yes, it's safe to take it while on abx - it's used for protecting the liver while on abx and in general.

You definitely need to start detoxing, as the toxins are what drives our symptoms for the most part.

And the abx will have pretty much compromised your good bacteria in your intestines - and that's where your immune system begins. You have to protect the body from the effects of treatment or you still run a risk of not healing because the body is constantly fighting everything and just doesn't have any more to give to the fight against the bacteria.

But a word about using yogurt for a probiotic. That's fine if you aren't sick and just need a bit extra probiotics for some reason, but unless you buy the unflavored & unsweetened type of yogurt, you are taking in a whole lot of sugar, which feeds yeast/fungus and won't help your body heal at all. You will need to get a refrigerated brand of probiotics and take between 30,000 and 100,000 "units" (as they are called) of the probiotics a day. Take them 2 hours after you have taken your abx to help replenish the good bacteria in your intestines.

And please take a look at the list of detoxing suggestions in the "New to Lyme?" thread that sits at the top of the forum for more ideas on what to do to help your body detox better. There are many very simple things that you can do that only take a few minutes each, but will help you feel better.

Yeah the yogurt I was taking was an organic plain white one with no added sugar.

Funny thing is when I first realized I had lyme I bought a bunch of stuff to take but ended up not taking it regularly. I went and checked and I still have some natures way thistle tea (super thisilyn) I also found some probiotics which I am glad. They are past 5 months best used by date but I am sure they are still alright.

I also have resveratrol, acai, chlorella in pill form and a few other things like the lymogen and olive leaf extract. I planned on taking them before the antibiotics but I got lost with it all when to take them, what order etc.

Being on the antibiotics I always thought it would be bad to try and overload my liver with all this stuff. But I guess that is not true.

I will definitely take a look at that guide. I really need to read up more on this. Thank you very much for the responses :)

I do iv zith..make ears ring more ...not helping staph but maybe strep.you can pulse the diflucan mwf if your yeast isnt bad both stay in system long time and maybeffect the lyme .protect liver and ears

Hey Darling787. Sorry I did not respond to your post. Yes it did end up helping me. Being on doxy for a year helped a lot of my symptoms and my muscle twitching had reduced by more than half. After, I was on zith for 3 months and that really pushed it back to where I do not have muscle twitching but every so often. And it also killed off the strep and mycoplasma that I had.

I have to admit I have laxed a bit due to this and should really look into taking more herbals to finally try and knock this thing out.
