Hi RhodeIslander-
Jaw pain is probably my worst symptom. It was a bit better with treatment but now that I am "done" with treatment it is back.
2.5 years ago(before I knew I had Lyme) I had an infection in my jawbone from a bad root canal. I had horrible facial, head, ear, tooth, jaw, cheek pain, and swollen lymph glands on the side of the infection. (BTW, 3 dentists told me everything looked normal. I found a holistic dentist who did a CT scan and found the infection.) I had to have 2 teeth pulled because of it. Immediately all my pain was gone! And I thought all my health problems would go away! ;)
Almost one year later ALL the pain came back (and swollen glands) with a vengeance and worse than before and it hasn't left me. And it radiates too. I can barely eat,
open my mouth, and have to take rx pain meds for it. We moved to Europe for my hubby's job and again I had dentists here look and they found nothing. I thought maybe it's Lyme related? But didn't know where to look.
It wasn't until a member here, Magoo2, mentioned their issues and that much of his/her symptoms cleared up by seeing a holistic dentist who deals with jawbone infections. I had a phone consult with the dentist and he could clearly see from my cone beam scan and even regular x-rays that my bone had not healed properly(cavitation) from the surgery and I probably still have a raging infection in there. But the question is like the chicken or egg. Did the Lyme cause the infection and improper regrowth of bone or did the infection exacerbate the Lyme?
In November I will fly all the way back to the US to have him work on my jaw. Incidentally, he says most of his patients are chronically ill patients, not dental patients. He even does pathology and DNA testing of the tissue he finds in the necrotic(dead) bone. I will work with my Lyme doctor along side as Lyme can reside in the jawbone. I am optimistic, but not trying to set my hopes too high...I have learned my lesson with this disease. ;) But it is kind of my last hope.

Also, interestingly, Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker, who is the pioneer in the Lyme/Mold connection is having a conference in October and one of the speakers will be speaking on ".... State of the Art in NeuroQuant and in unusual biofilm forming, possibly-toxin producing Multiply Antibiotic Resistant Coagulase Negative Staphylococci dwelling in biofilm communities in deep aerobic spaces of nose and dental cavitations." So I am just speculating but it seems like certain bacteria really like those aerobic spots in bone. For example, osteomyelitis. And Lyme seems like one of them. I know you mentioned maybe sinusitis? Hmmm...
Sorry for the long reply but I just wondered if you had thought of the dental connection? Do you have root canals or had wisdom teeth removed?
Maybe Magoo2 will chime in with their experience!!
I hope you find some relief and answers.
