Bone pain....Lyme or a coinfection?

I'm not sure if it's because the weather changed dramatically again or what but I'm having excruciating bone pain. It's probably a 7 or 8 on a scale of 1-10. It started in my left elbow but now it is bilateral and in my knees, ankles, toes, wrists, pinky fingers, and really bad in my shoulders (the acromion and clavical bones-I looked it up). It's different from the intense, constant burning pain that I had which lead me to being diagnosed. This is more of a dull, constant ache. It's also affecting places that were not initially hurting.

Being that it's a different pain and in different places, could it be a coinfection? I'm convinced I have Bart but tested negative.

I also had bad nightmares last night and night sweats. Not sure if it's related.

Some people are really affected by weather changes. I am one. Even pre-lyme I could tell when a storm was coming. However, now it seems I am more affected with a barometer that goes up so I can tell when a storm is ending.

A great example of this barometric pressure is where I live. I live at the 4,000 foot level and Whole Foods, Costco and other big stores are at sea level.

I buy a bag of anything at sea level and take it to my house at 4,000 feet and the bag looks like it will explode. Same thing happens with our joints as the barometer changes.

I can open a plastic bottle of water at my house and take a drink and by the time I get down to sea level the plastic bottle is all sucked in.

Same as when I ride my bike. Up here I am fine. But if I ride up at the 6,000 foot level I am panting to get oxygen. But if I ride at sea level I can ride forever because I am not working so hard to get oxygen into my lungs.

I have 2 barometers in my house because I love knowing weather patterns.

Inflammation is a huge part of lyme and I think changes in the inflammation drives the lyme bugs bonkers.

This pain is so excruciating, almost immobilizing. I think I may be psychic: I foresee a lot of bedrest this weekend lol

Bartonella

I have bone pain and the only thing that helped to some extent (unfortunately not entirely) is turmeric. I think it reduced inflammation in my body. You should try it.

I too tested negative for bartonella until I went to Galaxy labs which specializes in Bartonella genus testing...I have bad bone pain too mostly in my shin bones and "long bones". I wouldn't rely on testing solely to rule out bartonella because I've had doctors tell me the tests are more unreliable than the Lyme ones are.
I use tumeric, something called Bosmeric SR, it does seem to help. I went through a recent bout of bone pain and I think most of the reason it settled down was because I drank lots of water, detox teas, alka seltzer gold, charcoal tablets, Epsom salt baths, etc. I guess the important thing is to detox and the Epsom salt baths help the most for me...bone pain sucks! I hope it calms down for you soon Pmm73.
P.S. Nightmares and night sweats are more babesia related...have you tested for that?

I've been treating bartonella with rifampin and biaxin for 6 months. In the last three weeks I've had some pretty bad bone pain but before that I was bone pain free for over two months! So I think it's working....but my bartonella isn't healed yet. But yes, I think detoxing and the tumeric definitely helped me dramatically reduce my bone pain. (It took a couple of days to see a difference however. And detoxing can make you feel worse so don't over do it!) I get twinges still in my bones but I'm okay with that. I notice on the days I'm not good with my regime and don't drink enough water, detox etc. the bone pain gets worse.
Did your LLMD only give you mono? Or is that in conjunction with something else? I'm interested to know what works for you! Keep us posted!

I've had Lyme since I was about 6 and I'm 22 now. (It's a long story but my doctors didn't believe in chronic Lyme and ignored the positive tests for years and I had no idea.) That being said, I didn't begin treatment until January 2014 when I was 19 and my progress has been delayed due to not identifying and treating the co-infections the first time around. (The doctors kept thinking they'd gotten rid of the Bart and Babs and I kept insisting otherwise and they found out I was right this past spring!)
If you're going to treat bartonella you need more than just monocycline but I'm sure you're doctor knows that. The rifampin and the biaxin was rough for a while, the first four months primarily, and since then it's gotten better. It wasn't anything I couldn't handle but it wasn't fun! Many people say 3 months is when they started feeling better though, so everyone is different. It seems most people agree you need to be on a bartonella combo for 6 months to a year before getting rid of the bartonella. Rifampin can be a little hard on your liver though so take milk thistle or something to help support your liver if you go that route. But I don't have any side effects from the rifampin besides a slightly elated liver enzymes, very minor and nothing to worry about.
Unfortunately, I can't work. I dropped out of college when I was 19 due to the illnesses. I've taken some classes since then but have yet to go back full time. I have bad fatigue and brain fog still that I'm hoping will clear up when I tackle the babesia. And I need to rest frequently throughout the day and take a nap usually otherwise I'm a wreck and its not pretty! But I am able to do a lot more than I was last spring. I also take bicillin injections for Lyme which I think helps. I can excercise more now, I'm taking an online course, I sing with a chior, and I'm able to help around the house a bit more and get back to some other hobbies of mine. This weekend I was hiking in Vermont and kayaking! Oh, you reminded me that my foot pain is nowhere near what it was! Sometimes I could hardly walk and now I only get foot pain if I walk at about 6 AM...So it's just a slow process as we all know!

Thank you for your post. My heart goes out to you for all that you endured and for so long. Virtual hugs coming you way. I can't believe how young you are. I may be calling on you as my son begins this process. So interested to hear about college/career - such important years. I cannot believe you had positive tests and they still were telling you it wasn't lyme. That is crazy talk! You sound extremely resilient and strong - and I was so happy to read that you went hiking and kayaking! Yippee. I hope it continues like that for you.

July morning, for me bone pain is literally pain I can feel on my bone. Mine is on the top of my shin bone. It is very tolerable and I haven't had it in two days. I think it may have been a change of weather thing but I'll still be treating for co-infections as I'm sure something is there. My other 'bone pain' is when my hands feel like I imagine arthritis to feel like. Again, for me it's not terrible (knock on wood) yet.
