Opinion on CBD oil to treat depression and anxiety as well as Lyme?

I am seriously considering going on CBD oil. Mainly to treat the depression and anxiety, I have also read that it has an antipsychotic effect as well which could be good for me. I am just worried that I will herx and in turn this will cause the depression and anxiety to worsen. I live in Canada so I would have to go to my MD and get a referral to a clinic. And from what I've heard from friends and family (who do not have Lyme) is that they make up your own little recipe that is tailored to your needs. Ive heard nothing but good stories about pure CBD oil and can't find anything bad about it on the Internet. I am very sensitive to medications though... Which I am assuming is because of the Lyme.

I would encourage you to try it. As with all things Lyme, start off on a very low dose, and do NOT increase it until you know you are responding to it. There are cannabinoid receptors in the body that need to "learn to recognize" the cannabis and 'take it up', so that it can be utilized. Once you've had a few doses, you should notice some response - at that time, you can start raising your dose to your specific health care needs.

Different strains will affect you differently, so do be sure to talk to them about what you need it for, and what you do not want to have happen. Many don't want any psychotropic effects (getting high), and you can ask for one that will not do that to you.

You don't need to know what their stance on chronic Lyme is - you are there to only buy their product. Just be sure to let them know what you "actions" you need it to have, and what "actions" you don't want it to have.

Depression and anxiety are by far my twins and i worst symptoms. If i could fix that id no joke new 75% functional 😍

Keep in mind there is a difference between cbd from hemp and cbd from cannabis. I dont recommend hemp as a medicine. Its a gimmick and many across the usa are taking advantage of folks with the cbd craze. Just be careful where u buy. Cannabis is medicine.

The issue with CBD oil is you must, must, must, know where it came from, organic is the way to go. They use hemp to clean up toxic waste sites and it has been reported that the contaminated hemp has been used to make CBD oil. That's stuff you do not want.

The hemp from the source I mentioned in Canada is grown in Kelowna, BC. I spoke to the Green Cross Rep and was told that the hemp they use and grow is food source hemp...not industrial hemp (hemp used for clothing, etc)

He also told me he supplies the cbd oil to an Indy race car driver - she had a car accident (not while she was racing) and had daily afternoon seizures since then. He has been supplying her with the CBD oil (hemp derived) and hasn't had one since.

The studies/research that the retired LLMD Dr. Murakami and Dr. Eva Sapi have been doing is the cbd oil (for not symptom relief, but for killing the spirochetes - in vitro)
The cbd oil comes from hemp because the marijuana has a low amount of cbd oil.

Another reason people are willing to try the CBD oil (from hemp) is they don't want to get high...it's not practical for them to be high all the time.

Hemp derived CBD oil can really be dangerous. It is greatly preferred as the medicine because the less THC, but hemp really absorbs stuff from the ground much more readily than cannabis. So I so agree with making sure that you get hemp from a very reliable source.

Best scenario is to grow it yourself in some good soil not near any type of runoff from anything.

It's also the type of hemp -- food grade vs industrial grade. I think that's what people are missing when they say that the hemp is contaminated.

Thanks Girlie, that is helpful :) I am looking for pure CBD. I react very badly to THC (mentally). For anybody who has seen my last post you can see that I even had a bad reaction to a low dose of curcumin. I might try giving them a call.

I have always been sensitive to ALOT of things... Problem is that I am also dealing with post-withdrawal syndrome from an antipsychotic. I am even more sensitive now :( It is also hard to distinguish between problems due to the lyme and problems due to antipsychotic and antidepressant usage. The antipsychotic that I was taking landed me in the hospital, also since I was not technically "psychotic" prior to going on the medication, there was no reason for me to be on it in the first place (Dr.'s words). My family may be looking into a medical malpractice lawsuit because of this. Anway, totally off topic, sorry about that!

Either way I will speak with a psychiatrist about these issues and I will research extensively! The Green Cross sounds like a good option so far though!

I think it costs $20 to ship the CBD oil. So, if you end up liking it, order a few syringes at a time to reduce your overall shipping costs.

Do you mind me asking what your post-withdrawal symptoms were?
I'm so sorry that happened to you.

It happened to my elderly father. He was fine (was on an antidepressant since my mother died) and then fell and broke the socket of his hip. Had 'robotic' surgery in victoria...was doing well...but we didn't know they were giving him sleeping pills every night for 6 weeks.
After discharge....he had sudden onset of anxiety...his GP prescribed sleeping pills and ativan.
He was never the same. Ended up in ER and then the Psych ward. and...anti-psychotic medication. He was suicidal for awhile on it...then they kept changing it...he was on seroquel, olanzapine (which sent his blood sugar level into double digits), haloperidol, and at least one more.
He had sudden dementia - according to them...not one would believe me that it was the psych meds.
there's a lot more to this story...but we never got him back. He was in his mid-70's at the time...

Well, I'm not sure if my father had lyme disease.

In July of 2010, he and my 16 year old son went to Paris together. At that time my dad was living independently.

He fell in September - off a ladder - the surgery was not a hip replacement - the surgeon pinned the broken acetabulum (socket) of the hip...but he had to non-weight bearing on that one leg for 8 weeks.

He went home in October....and by December he was in the psych ward. (after taking 4 ativan daily plus zopiclone at night for sleeping)

by beginning of January - I was told he needed full care...full blown dementia - nothing showing on the CT scan.
When I would visit him at that time...they would give him a plate of food...he would look at me and say "Lori, what do I do?" and I would give him a fork...and tell him to eat.

We fought with the Dr.'s for a few years...and got him weaned off of a lot of meds...and he passed the 'brain' test and was allowed to get out of a full care facility. My son and I took him to Hawaii for a week's vacation..and he had his own room...was able to take care of himself.
Then a little while after that - I don't know what happened...all of a sudden he had anxiety 'through the roof'....and then went downhill from there. They probably slipped him an ativan...and a sleeping pill...who knows?
He was never the same...and passed November, 2014.

People don't have sudden onset full blown dementia like that - and then improve to the point that he can care for himself...

I hope you also find a compassionate Psychiatrist..to help you.
