BUN stands for blood urea nitrogen. That means you have too much nitrogen in your blood. Since your are treating Lyme and probably have an increased breakdown of plasminogen, I would decrease my nitrogen intake to allow my body time to lower its levels. I would eat less protein.
Just wanted to say that the pain is fairly mild and has almost entirely subsided. My liver and kidney tests are looking much better too. I have been using detox tea, tulsi, dandelion, and charcoal. Per your advice I have cut out my protein shakes--I haven't heard anything about
it causing elevated enzymes, but I don't wanna take any chances as I was drinking it daily for months. When I talk about
protein, I am referring to nitrogen because that is specifically what is causing the problems. Nitrogen is not an issue unless our body can not eliminate it properly. There are external sources of nitrogen (what we eat) and internal sources of nitrogen (muscle breakdown/plasminogen degradation). It is much easier to alter the external sources which in turn alter our GI flora which is the ultimate goal IMO.
