Girlie,
It sounds like you've hit areas of the infection(s) not previously hit. Remember also that Artemisinin can also hit Lyme.
You may know that, upon the advice of a Buhner-recommended herbalist, I modified my protocol quite a bit in early August.
I stopped a large number of the various herbs (16 or 17?) I'd been taking and am now taking larger doses of 6 herbs 4x daily (vs. 3x daily as I'd been doing).
Things were slowly improving until I decided to start Serrapeptase again last week. One cap resulted in body-wide neuro symptoms which is something I never experienced before. I also revisited "buggy feelings" that I haven't had in over a year.
A consultation with my herbalist resulted in his agreement that I bust open some biofilm and that was to blame for the increase in symptoms.
He recommended that I take 2-3 droppersful Dan Shen (Red Sage) as part of my regular dosing.....and as frequently as ever hour to treat acute symptoms. I am thrilled to report that this is working.
I was also advised to take the Serrapeptase every now and again (basically to let my body heal from any released biofilm pathogens before taking it again).
I share this part of my story in the hopes it helps you feel better about what you've experienced.
Wow, cd - that's crazy! Maybe I should be adding Dan Shen to my next herb order.
...and how wonderful it's already working for you!!!Yes, it was crazy. Needless to say, it was also a bit disappointing since I took Serrapeptase throughout my time on Cowden and BioFibrin during my time on Buhner. I don't know if Doctor's Best Serrapeptase is more effective or if my symptom load became so low that I'm now able to identify its effects.
I had been 1/2 tsp (2 droppersful) Dan Shen 3x daily for quite some time and the herbalist had me stop in August. I thought Dan Shen helped with spleen function (significant part of the immune system).
The herbalist told me recently that Dan Shen modulates nerve inflammation.
In addition to now dosing Dan Shen 4x per day, I have had a few instances when I took 3 droppersful every hour for 3 hrs to see what happened. My nerve symptoms totally calmed down!!!
I'm now realizing I was probably too conservative with my dosing. Not everyone needs higher doses but I seem to be one of those who do.
Please be aware that Dan Shen also has antimicrobial properties. Therefore, low and slow continues to be prudent.
Good luck no matter what you decide!!
