Update

Hi All, been 2 weeks since my excruciating hip thing that got so bad at one point I was getting major spasms and I could not sit, lie down...I was in tears.....this week, it is bearable not excruciating- Thank The Lord! But, as we all know, if it's not one thing it's another...spent 3 hrs. at the eye specialist today only to find out that I am in early stages of Glaucoma...yeah, isn't that something our Grandparents had?? Really depressing news. I am to use prescription drops in each eye at bedtime- indefinitely- and now have to do a hilden or hilderberg retina test in 6 weeks because my retinas are also in a poor state....so, thin optic nerve, pressure in the eyes, thin retinas,thin cornea......this sucks. Anyone in the same boat? If so, what can we do - any natural things? I know that my eyes have deteriorated since Lyme came along, but this is just ridiculous!

Aw, PeteZa- I miss you too - I have just been having a really tough 3 weeks- not 2 as I wrote previously- but 3 weeks as of today - So I appreciate your warm hugs and lovely, kind words! Thank You! I will try the Lutein for sure and I hope you get better news at your next appointment....this just all sucks on top of everything we have to deal with. I would rather lose my hearing or taste buds, but I will not or could not deal with blindness down the road...having hard time dealing with this news.....Thank You So Much for your comforting words PeteZA! Thanks, Girlie! Will be 3 yrs. soon that I have been treating Bart. Apparently, there is no cure for glaucoma which eventually leads to blindness- one can only hope to slow down its progression by using prescription meds to bring down the pressure in the eyes etc or surgery if things get way out of hand . That is what I was told yesterday by the eye specialist. Sucks....I will give up my hearing but plz. do not take my sight away....having a hard time digesting all this today....I will take your warm hug, Girlie- Thank You! I hope you are doing much better these days XX

My Grandmother had glaucoma - don't know when she was diagnosed - thinking in her late 40's or early 50's?

She never lost her sight...she passed away when she was 90 years old. So 40 to 50 years she had it.

My father had glaucoma...got it I think in his 50's. When he was in his mid-70's he had cataracts...that caused vision issues...but his glaucoma was stable.
He never went blind either. (Passes away when he was 79)

Here's something weird that I pretty much brushed off:

Last year while seeing a neurologist she examined my eyes and said I was getting glaucoma.

My eyesight is bad for other reasons, I hadn't really noticed it getting worse, so I let it go since I had my hands full dealing with the Lyme.

I mentioned this to my Internist this summer and he took a look and told me he saw no signs of it.

Either the neurologist was mistaken, or the glaucoma was somehow reversed.

Glaucoma is caused by high pressure in the eyes, which Bartonella can cause(but is not the only cause) - so do be sure that you are either properly evaluated for this infection or are in treatment for it.
