Hi all,

I hope everyone is doing well.

My mother in law had a western blot test done. She was but by something three weeks ago. She thought possibly it was a spider bite. Her whole leg became inflamed and stiff. She then developed horrible headaches and chest pain in the following days. She now has a sore right eye muscle and double vision. She went to the doctor and did an MRI they saw nothing. He did test her for Lyme and did the western blot.

She tested positive for bands 41 and 58 igG.

I wanted to know your thoughts. I have Lyme and am still battling it. I told her I would get the Igenex testing as this test didn't test for two of the bands specific to Lyme.

Band 41 is a flagella of a spirochete, but not specific to Lyme.

Sorry, Im not sure about band 58.

Considering something bit her and she developed symptoms after - I would get her to a LLMD.

I would schedule an appt a.s.a.p. and maybe you can get her on a cancellation list...if it is LD...she should be treated right away.
Explain when you call that it is a new bite.

Also remember as well that it takes at least 4 weeks to truly get an immune response to full force so it might have even been to early to test. a clinical diagnoses in those cases is key to get proper treatment. but I agree seek an LLMD.

Thanks to you both. I will tell her. It's hard because they want to do what their doctor says and their doctor is telling them nothing is wrong. But, then they see what I have been going through for 2 years now and it scares them. I will talk to her today. Thanks again for the replies!

Band 58 is thought to be from Borrelia afzelii, a European strain of Lyme. Combined with her symptoms, she likely has these infections. I hope you can talk her into going to see a LLMD or starting an herbal protocol on her own.

Hi Traveler,

I will try to talk her into it today. My mom actually had what looked like a tick bite on Halloween. I told her to just start doxy but I wanted her to go to the doctor. She refused. But then she started to get the fatigue and the headaches and started mixing up her words so she caved and is taking doxy. Her regular doc she said doesn't know what he's doing with it. I can ask my llmd for how long she needs to be on it, but do you have any thoughts on this. My llmd is really expensive(as most are) so she doesn't want to go to him now. While on doxy she is getting back aches and toe aching. She is like I'm so sorry this is no joke. That's my mother not my mother in law. I feel like Lyme is becoming so common...something needs to change.

Considering she had the only circular rash that can be directly connected to Lyme (Bull's eye) and the symptoms, you are taking her in the right direction.

See if her doctor will at least read this, the (2014) Treatment guidelines from ILADS:
