Jernigan protocol? Anyone

Does anyone follow Jernigan's protocol? Would love to hear success stories.

I started reading his book last night and I must say I love what he has to say. Doesn't believe in herxing, doesn't believe antibiotics, no matter how long you take them, will ever kill more than 85% of bacteria (if that), and believes 100% in cleaning up the inner terrain first, before proper healing can take place. In other words detox first.

Again, I'm only a bit into it but I like his belief that we can all heal and we certainly don't have to be miserable.

Would love to hear from others.

Yes. For me, much more of a book and less need for a botany/herbalist degree. He is also very generous about saying there are many healers who do great work, enough to go around, and patients should do what is best for them. Again, I'm just taking it in right now but I get a positive feeling when reading it.

My theory is that kids heal faster because they don't have a lifetime of toxins in their bodies. I even notice my son herxes a lot less than I did when I was on abx.

I want to believe him too. I think there is a lot of crossover in different philosophies: detox and get the immune system working and the body should be able to take care of the remaining bacteria. It's how best to do that for each of us.

I get Lyme freeze. I don't want to do the wrong thing or be incapacitated, since I need to function, so right now am under treating.

yes! me! I have used it and it is amazing. I actually went to the Hansa center ( a few times) and got treated there and used the Jernigan protocol, and I personally think it works far better than any other protocol out there.
I got pretty much all the way better until recently I had a babesia breathing symptom ( horrible) come up- which I am now in the process of treating via the hansa center. But that is currently my only issue and that one only popped back up about a month ago.
I think the Jernigan protocol is amazing, and it addresses the ammonia in the brain which is a huge reason for the neuro lyme symptoms and not one talked about by many lyme people. The lyme bacteria give off a by product of ammonia which gets into the brain and body and causes all kinds of problems. The Jernigan "anti tox" product directly helps the body release the ammonia. then you just need the borellogen for the bacteria. If you go to the hansa center they work specifically with what is going on with your body and do lots of supplements and homeopathics and herbals to help support..
But if you are doing it at home I think the key elements are: Borellogen ( for the lyme bacteria) and Antitox (for the ammonia). then do as many saunas as you can ( for detox). (I never did the enemas, by the way, and I don't think they are necessary). And then if you can add magnesium and omegas ( fish oil) daily, that is, I think, the core of the Jernigan protocol. And stay on it for 9 months. Don't be discouraged if it takes a couple of months to work. Good luck.

Kate, were you chronic or newly bitten? I ask because in my very informal polling, I find that people who took care of their lyme right away healed the faster.

I don't have access to a sauna. Would a dry sauna at a gym work?

DB, Thanks for the heads up on the products. I'm super sensitive too - should be interesting. That said, if there is ammonia in my brain - want it out!

So it's an at home you will do - infrared? I'm in a NY apt. so not sure that will work. Can put one in weekend house but then it's only 2x a week. Hmmmm. I think when I get better I'll open up a lyme spa with saunas, rife, etc...

I just placed my order. Love the sound of their products and they say they don't cause herxing. How can that be. There was one disclaimer on one product that said "may move heavy metals to other areas, creating new symtpoms.'But that is the only one I could see.

KLW, noticed you have CFS and joint pain. Stephania and Elu. have helped tremendously with those for me. I'm not quitting them, just want to add new stuff in.

How long does 4 oz bottle of Borrelogen/Antitox last? So that I can calculate a 9 month course.

If you're following a protocol it should give dosages. Also, the site you order from should have dosages.

A 4 ounce bottle should last about a month and a half. There is supposed to be 140 droppers full in that size bottle and if you take it as recommended at 1 dropper three times a day......
Here is the site I referenced, and if you click on the additional dosing option there is quite a bit of good suggestions in there including that it is ok to start this one low and slow and build up gradually if you are sensitive to new herbs.
