Hi. I'm new to this forum (been lurking a while) and would love some advice from you all re: treatment for my daughter. We don't see a LLMD. Instead we work with an integrative internist. We did the Igenex test last year (IGM: 31 +, 39 IND, 41 IND & IGG: 41 IND). Based on these test results, we treated her with Beyond Balance drops on a hunch that it could be Bartonella (MC-BAR 1, Cognease Detox, and Cyflacalm). We tried antibiotics and they were too strong for her (caused an increase in neuropsychiatric symptoms). We recently did the urine DNA Connexions test and she came back with Borrelia Burgdorferi F7 and Ehlrichia Chafeensis. The doctor says this is a "weak indication" of lyme so we should stop doing any more herbal treatment.

For those who have done this test, how have you proceeded? I am curious if her results are enough to continue lyme treatment.

Welcome to the site. There is great advice at the top of the thread and you will find many knowledgeable moderators and parents of kids with Lyme here. I don't know much about the DNA Connexions test but just bookmarked it for the future.

DS goes to a LLMD practice that is well-known and mainly uses conventional meds with some herbs etc. They don't stop treating until there are several months without drugs where patient has no symptoms. If there are any symptoms still going on, complete healing is not finished. I think that is something to consider. I do not know if doing only herbals warrants the same thought process but it seems to me it would. If she still has any symptoms remaining, it seems further treatment is warranted.

Regarding the antibiotics being 'too strong for her'. She was most likely experiencing a herx from the die-off of bacteria. That is to be expected.

Why does the Dr. say "weak indication of lyme"?

No, herbal treatment shouldn't be stopped...until a few months past cessation of symptoms.

Is your daughter symptom free at this point?

Yes, both tests are enough to warrant more treatment.

weak indication of lyme, what the heck does that mean? would be great to get an explanation on what that means i mean you either have lyme or you don't.

I thought (and I could be wrong here) that F7 indicated Flagella. So probably similar to band 41 on blot?

There site says a positive result "indicates the dna presence of borrelia "
And erlichia infects white blood cells ...if any thing it is a strong indicator of a definitive lyme diagnosis ...!?

its time to find a new doc ..it sounds like he doesnt want to be liable ...pediatric lyme is hard ...jemsek has a new np that does kids ..

Thanks for everyone's replies. I think my doctor thought it was a "weak indication" because only two of the 14 microbes that they test for were detected. Therefore, it could possibly be something else? I'm curious to see other people's test results and doctor's interpretations/treatment plans as this test becomes more widely used.

My daughter is not symptom free. She has only had neurological problems since birth (anxiety, brain fog, attention problems, mood swings, etc.) and they have subsided about 30% on the herbs. For now, the doctor has prescribed Cefdinir 300 mg daily pulsed with Flagil 250mg 3 times/week. The last time we tried any antibiotics, we did Azith for one month and my daughter went crazy with rages, tics, and urinary problems. I will investigate detox options if we decide to start this antibiotic trial over her school winter break. I'm worried it could be another her disaster for us....

Have you also looked into possible mold exposure? Seems these two can often go hand in hand.
