Yeast, borrelia? Or something else?

I would get your opinion about my condition.

I've been treating my chronic lyme for 3years now, but I am now where I started - or worse.

To be honest, I don't know, how to proceed? My main problem is that my small intestine has (and had been for 8years now) a huge pain that makes me almost impossible to take antibiotics. Two years ago I had IV rocephin treatment that made my gut much-much better, but the during last year I had to take doxy-azythromycin almost ongoing to keep myself on my feet after a gut infection that mixed up/changed my symptoms and made everything worse. Due to the ABX my gut issues have reached the point that I had to give up taking ABX. Unfortunately symptoms started to go mad within a few days - this was end of september. Finally I kinda control now the symptoms (with extreme diet, herbs, cowden, etc.) but I am in a bad shape.

The best thing would be to figure out what is the cause of my symptoms and start treating it accordingly.
What my observation is:
- symptoms gets worse within an hour, or few hours after eating, especially after eating high carb foods, or diary, or foods containing sugar.
- symptoms naturally wax and wane (they come like "seizures"), they have their period, which is influenced also by rest, diet, stress.
- symptoms are: unbearable head "pressure", like something irritates all my nerves, therefore nervous, irritated, bit of blurred speech, unable to think, general sick feeling, everything is in pain, burning skin, sometimes numbness, chest pain, shooting pains, severe insomnia, very cold extremities, low body temperature (always 35,5-36,0 Celsius), arrythmias (double beats), etc.

Symptoms are somehow linked to my gut as the flare-up comes with flare-up of my GI pain and nausea as well.

Interesting thing is that earlier excersise was beneficial, but now I am so weak that excersising makes the symptoms worse.

This head pressure is also interesting: earlier tha basis was the back of my skull and started from there, but since last year, there is a spot in the middle of my forehead, and there is the basis now. Sometimes I feel like something is moving inside there for a few seconds - terrifying...

What do you think about it? I thought of yeast/candida, as eating makes everyting worse, but I am taking fluconazole for 2weeks now, and I am still not feeling better. Maybe resistance?

Yes, I tried herbs only. It was cowden protocol. I did not feel any difference, but I wasn't in a bad shape that time.
I am without ABX since september and I am taking now also cowden's herbs, plus tea from cistus incanus and walnut leaf, camomilla.
If it helps, it only stops/slows down the progression.
I also thought of bartonella, but can it respond quickly to tetracycline quickly? As 80% of these symptoms diminishes within a few days after starting some tetracycline (e.g. doxy, or limecycline). Unfortunately it hurts my gut, so either the gut issue is something different, or tetracycline only masks the problem somehow.
The thing that disturbs me in this that I don't have any reactions to cowden's houttuynia. If it's bart, i should experience something, am I right?
As for buhners: it would be great to start with, but since I am in Europe, I cannot have access to those herbs.
I am thimking of getting another round of rocephin as it was a huge help for my gut (and some of my symptoms) 2years ago, but not sure as it caused gallstones for the last time, therefore I took it only for 3weeks and it made everything worse.
Cutting out food that has a negative effect is sure an option, I don't eat sugar&gluten for 2years now, but now I got to the point that almost everything genetate a flare-up. If I feel very bad I don't eat anything for a day, than it calmes down the system in tha majority of cases, but I cannot do it ongoing.

I would suggest that you also check out things dealing with the gut, like SIBO (Small Intestine Bacteria Overgrowth), Candida, fungal infections and so on - but as Mister Mike said, taking care of the gut needs to be your first order of things. If you aren't getting IV abx, then you will have trouble absorbing the meds/herbs as well as the nutrients of food and such.

I have a great deal of trouble with my GI tract as well, so I understand how touchy they can be. There are a number of things I do to help keep my gut calm, and am always adjusting and doing things to either ease my GI issues or am changing things up because they have essentially have shut down yet again. There's a lot of 'finesse' that at times goes into keeping a compromised gut to keep working. I too have to skip eating for part of a day to help settle things down from time to time, but due to my adrenal issues, I do have to do what I can to eat to 'feed' them or I'll be in even worse shape.

Bone broths are good if you tolerate them, as well as ginger tea 3 or 4 times a day. Both are very healing to the digestive tract. Try to stick to foods that don't seem to irritate your GI issues.

The vagus nerve runs from the brain through the face, and down through the throat, then down into the GI tract. It's the longest nerve in the body, and can be highly affected from these infections (usually Lyme or Bart). If it's Lyme, demyelination can happen, which will possibly be helped by using Lion's mane (as per Buhner).

I do agree that some testing needs to be done to determine what you are dealing with, as there are a few possibilities.

As for the tests: I had a lot of bloodtests done during the last few years, but the results are not consistent. We know, tests for lyme&co are not the best.
I have positive IGM for borrelia, and also made the Augsburg clinic ELISPOT tests for borrelia, EBV, yersinia. All three are positive! Chlamydia elispot is negative however.

Babesia spp. is negative (with genesig test), also bartonella tests (ingenetix, bactoreal). I don't know much about these two tests, but the labour claims, they have specifity and sensitivity over 90%.

The bartonella test filters for: B.clarridgeiae, B.elizabethae, B.grahamii, B.henselae, B.koehlarae, B.quintana, B.volans, B.washoensis.

We have a retired doctor here in Hungary, who developed a dark-field microscopy technique (DualDur), and he claims, he can diagnose lyme and major co's from blood. He diagnosed two types of borrelia, and ALSO babesia, and bartonella. But I don't... I mean, almost everybody gets this same diagnosis from him, and I don't have bartonella rash, or night sweats refers to babesia.

The tests for yeast are negative (blood, stool, throat).

I just got my latest MRI from spine and brain, but they are almost negative. Only one tiny little spot appeared (since last year) in the brain, but everybody says, it is "normal". ENG also normal. Which is weird, as my major symptoms are related to the brain and nerves: neuropathy, headache, pressure, etc...

Thank you for the links mpost! I did not say that I don't have access for lyme treatments, I have been treating myself for three years now. I said only, that buhner herbs are inaccessible here - at least I thought so. But I was obviously wrong. There are these possibilities, as I see. Not cheap at all, but at least the possibility is given.

I tried cowden protocol for 9month, tetracyclines, macrolids (azythromycin, clarithromycin) for a year, cephalosporin (rocephin/ceftriaxone) two courses, IV mega vitamin cocktails, and recently I had experiments with Rick Simpson Oil, RIFE, soft laser, and fluconazole. My main problem is my small intestine and stomach which hurts a lot and therefore I had to give up several courses of ABX. When I say "hurt", it does not describe the pain I feel in my stomach. For me the key would be to heal the stomach first. I tried everything I could to do it, but with limited success.

Girlie: Thanks. I wasn't symptom free, but felt much better on doxy-azy combo, and a bit also after first rocephin treatment.

My LLMD says that my present symptoms are very complex and are grown above lyme dgx. She prescribed malarone (only for 1week), doxy, rifampin as last course a month ago, but I am afraid of starting it due to my stomach issues...
I want to hold on until new year, and meantime go on with the strict diet, cowden and other herbs, and create a plan how to go on from 1st Jan?

Have you treated parasites ...? When i took abx giardia and ascaris wrnt rampant ....leaving holes in my gut ....bartonella can be the main infection and is not that easy to eradicate ..mpost and girlie had good advice ..h pylori may be a issue also neem and alinia may be of use ....tinidazole cleared my dads gut pain pretty quik ...if its relieved by that than you know its protozoan

I was thinking about your case, and I think maybe Tinidazole would be beneficial for you. It helped me with my stomach issues. But I need to tell you it provoked nausea. It is not a plesent drug. I was pulsing it, I took it 2 times a week, for two months. My stomach got better after this treatment. It is not entirely well, but I noticed some progress.
Just be careful, as it can cause nerve pain. If you get it, you should discontinue the treatment.
