antibiotics and then switched to Buhners

Hi Girlie,

I know you were on some antibiotics and then switched to Buhners but have since switched back to antibiotics. Can you tell me the reason why you did so? Were the herbs not working? For me I have been on antibiotics since June but stopped in October to give Buhners/chronic tonic a shot but they seemed to have plateued. Some symptoms like twitching, feeling cold in legs and facial sensitivity are returning. Should I go back on antibiotics? Also I know people do multiple antibiotics to help out. I have a whole bottle of Doxy left with 90 pills, bottle of Ceftin and some Cipro. Would it be good to switch up the routine so as not to have a repetitive protocol?

Before I was diagnosed, I did a couple months of Buhner's lyme herbs - Cat's Claw, JK, and Eleutheros.

Then I started antibiotics (when I got my positive test) - my regular GP prescribed - and stopped the Buhner herbs...as I didn't know if I should be doing them together.
A couple of months after that, I started treatment with a LLND...and still did abx only for 3 or 4 months..before adding the Buhner bart herbs to my lyme antibiotics.

When my liver enzymes climbed, I took a break from herbs and abx for 2 1/2 months.

When I resumed treatment, I went back on buhner herbs for bart, along with abx for bart.

After awhile I started to get my esophagus issues back that i had before treatment and I pared things down a lot - stopped the Bart herbs, and some supplements...so I wasn't having to swallow so many things...I believe this was around the time I was taking the cbd oil...which was making my throat issues even worse.

I now am doing support herbs - Kudzu, Hawthorn, and Greater Celandine with my antibiotics.

Sam, I can't advise you whether you should go back on abx or continue with herbs.
But, if it's only been since October that you're on herbs...that's not really a long time. If you've plateaued have you tried raising your doses again?
...or maybe doing a challenge to see if there's another infection coming to the forefront?

With herbs, a repetitive protocol isn't a problem...and a couple of months really isn't a long time.

Personally, I wouldn't do the cipro unless I was desperate...because of the black box warning it comes with.

I'm assuming you're dealing with bartonella? Are you able to get Rifampin - if you are trying to treat Bart with abx...I would suggest trying Rifampin before Cipro. (just my opinion, being cautious)

Hi Girlie,

I have not tried raising it. Maybe I should do that. I just feel like I am fighting this never ending battle. I don't know what I have as all tests come back negative, so I was treating with herbs for all the main infections. I have not gone to LLMD since August, as its too much money, but maybe I should go back. Thanks for the help.

Our Mod cd3764 posted about raising her dosages of buhner herbs.

...and I think if you've plateaued that might be a good idea in your case.

So, you are taking the herbs for lyme, bart, and babesia?

Yes I am taking Chronic tonic, JK, CC, Hout, Andrographis, Cryptolepis and Hawthorne

I agree in the raising doses.

I did one Buhner herb at a time and found out my MAX of that herb. Then I added in the next herb to find out my MAX of that herb.

Yes, it took me awhile to get all the herbs going, but I knew what my Maximum dose was for each herb.

I am now doing the same thing with my husband. He is quite a bit bigger than me. He is 6'7" and 225 lbs so he is finding his Max higher on most herbs. But, there are a couple where he is lower than my Max dosage.

It just goes to show you that we are all different and size does not matter. We are individuals.

Thanks PeteZa! I usually do 1 dropper full of each herb 1x a day, maybe I can try increasing it to 2X

I was doing 1 dropperful 3X daily at one point.

I wouldn't add in a full dropper all at once, though...go slower than that.

1 dropper is approx. 1/4 tsp - 25-30 drops.
