Hey rkd80,
I too get that burning sensation, I describe it to my Dr as "My skull is on fire" mainly because it happens to my head. It also effects my legs and arms, sometimes my extremities like my toes or fingers. At its worst it's kept me awake for 12-14 hrs at a time due to the intentness of them, fading and intensifying over the hours.
I believe these are classic Bartonella symptoms if I'm not mistaken. Bartonella likes to infect ligaments, bone marrow and even enjoy tendons etc. However it can also cause burning sensations from the nerve damage it can cause. The longer it is in you the deeper they will populate into the various bodily tissues, based on nutrition etc from the bugs.
If there is nothing warm or hot touching your skin, the cold reality is it is going to be nerve oriented, or dementia oriented. What is causing it can be a list of things, but it is more than likely the infection.
Also if you have been infected for awhile with little/no treatment, remember the bugs are competing with each other as well on some levels. They will die off in waves when new offspring come out, causing flaring of symptoms, even without treatment. Over time our bodies naturally detoxify the system and remove toxins with the resources available, causing symptoms to calm until a new wave is born.
You can help your body by trying to get your systems back in order to deal with these toxins faster/more efficiently, this can reduce herx reactions from general treatments. There are many good ways to detoxify your system. I would recommend doing it as the longer toxins hang around, the more likely they are to be re-absorbed and processed again; causing more pain and damage to body tissues.
There is many ways to help detox; I'm not the most experienced in it so I won't recommend and ways beyond what others have already mentioned. I highly recommend starting some detox with the others!
Edit: I also wanted to give a shout out to lemon water. Probably my #1 as it is very easy to incorporate and is very enjoyable. Milk thistle seed is another good one, you can mix it into virtually anything that can take a powder as I find it flavourless, even your double lemon water.
Good luck and let us know how it goes
