I've been searching for what could possibly be wrong with me for years. I've always been not quite where most people are with energy levels. Very tired as a child, but I can't remember much of my childhood. I do know I had an unknown bacterial infection that caused vomiting and was in the hospital on IV antibiotics until I was better. At about 9 I started seeing a doctor for back pain.. he told me it was my posture. I live in northwest ga where they say lyme isn't really here.. but i had many ticks bc we lived in a wooded area with lots of deer and i had lots of pets. .but I visited a lyme prominent area in new york at 18 BUT I do not remember a tick bite. I did have a rash on my leg that my mom told me looked like a ringworm but other than that I've never had any rashes. My legs have inched since I was maybe 16 only the lower below the knee on the outer sides. That same rash left a small brown spot on my leg. At age 19 I quit going to college because I was just so tired and missed a bunch of classes. A few months later I went to the dr complaining of extreme exhaustion. Sore throat & earaches and widespread muscle ache also when I got really tired. He told me I had an active mono infection. I was surprised bc I had felt that way so long that I didn't even know I was sick. My first pregnancy age 20 I slept the entire thing.. I had severe headaches and dizziness. Afterwards I stumbled into walls, couldn't form sentences etc. That stopped after about 6 months. I'm now 29 and still have no answers. The fatigue is overwhelming, I'm only able to work part time and even that I'm about to be fired for absence! On top of the fatigue and mental fog I've experienced the past 10 years I now have a pain in my legs from the knees down, and a ton of weakness in my hands and lower arms. The only thing to show in my blood work is high sed rate and low iron and low vitamin d. I ordered my own labs last week through quest for Igg and igm. Igg only had 41 band reactive. Igm only had 23 band. So the test as a whole was negative. But I read that 23 is lyme specific. Is it worth it to keep looking into lyme? Does it sound like anything else to anyone !? Any answers I would be so grateful! Also if I need to look more into it , where can I go!?

I would definitely say it's worth it to look into getting treatment for Lyme asap, even if you do keep looking for more test results, which after all this time are not going to be as reliable as you'd hope.

Have you heard of or considered finding a Lyme Literate Doctor to treat you? An LLMD.

Conventional doctors are strapped into limited antibiotic protocol which at best is not sufficient for someone untreated over all the years you've been infected.

Your symptoms do ring familiar with Lyme and the possible co-infections that come with it.

Hi,Unfortunate event - welcome!

Yes, band 23 is lyme specific....please pursue a LLMD for evaluation and treatment.

Considering it's Quest (not the best lab for lyme testing)- you're lucky that you got a positive on a band.
(I say lucky...because if you do have lyme...it's good to know now)

You should find a LLMD. You can start a new thread titled: "looking for LLMD in/near______" and fill in the blank.

Then enable your email option (through MY Profile) so that members can send you names privately. We don't post the names of our LLMD's on here - for privacy reasons. We need to protect these Dr.'s. They are sometimes under scrutiny/investigation for treating patients with chronic lyme for extended time (more than a few weeks)

Welcome to the forum!

I would start treatment. You may want to do additional testing later for coinfections IF you hit a roadblock or plateau in your treatment. While no testing is concrete, some people begin treatment and test later in these situations, and often they get more information than prior to treatment.

I would only do this additional testing through Igenex, DNA Connexions, or Advanced Labs. These seem to be the labs that most members are finding results with.

unfortunate, may I suggest to you that you try to begin learning how to repair your immune system?

Some of the avenues that help are trying to minimize as much stress, both physical and emotional, from your daily life as you can.

You need plenty of rest, if you're able to. There are herbal substances and teas that you can drink before bed, that are not harmful or addicting. Several here can make suggestions for you on that.

Also, you need to take a look at your diet to make digestion easier on your body. Some choose a dairy, gluten, sugar free lifestyle, others eliminate excess sugars and cut back on the others.
Most try to eat clean, that is natural substances free of gmo's, and some avoid soy products.

If you are aware of digestive issues that you have after eating, document the foods you ate, and consider eliminating them for awhile.

When you begin treatment with an LLMD, chances are it will be with antibiotics. You can in the meantime get some suggestions for some of the more popular herbs, both the kind that support the body and those that have components that kill some of the bacteria.

Most importantly you need to look over the de-toxing methods again and begin to incorporate some of them one at a time, increasing as you go. You can start with drinking lemon water, with a straw if you want to protect tooth enamel. Lemons, while acidic in themselves, are changed to alkaline when ingested and help bring our bodies into a more neutral ph, which is healthier. Though too much alkalinity is bad too.

All the ideas in the lists you'll find here can make you feel better now, and continue to help through whatever treatment you do.

Thank you all so much for the information! I've heard something about taking something silver, so I'm going to look into all the herbal stuff as well! The reason I started thinking it was a bacterial infection was bc when I took a zpack, the first week or so I felt AWFUL. but then I felt great for about 3 weeks.. slowly back to hoe i am, worse even... I want those weeks back!
