Pulsing Rifampin??

Do others pulse this? I've read a lot of things that said NOT to pulse it. My LLMD has been practicing for many years and is pulsing it 2 days on 1 day off. With how hard it's hitting me my body is thankful for the day off.

I have pulsed it...I did M/W/F two or three weeks on and one week off.

I decided to pulse after reading about Dr. J. (Washington, DC) using a pulsed approach for all infections, not just lyme. I know he is experienced...and highly regarded...treats patients from all over the world.

Other LLMD's are also following Dr. J's protocols of pulsing.

Is your LLMD getting his patients in remission? Does he have good reviews?
If so, I would trust him.

I am taking Rifa, but my LLMD told me to take it every day.
I just hope it will work.

DS is currently pulsing rifampin M,W,F 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. It is working and he gets hit hard when he re-starts it.

Was doing everyday..it burns cortisol 2x as fast too...pulsing.every other...just make sure its paired with something

when first taking rifampin i took it every day for a few months. now i'm pulsing rifabutin 4 days on 3 days off. i really need the days off because the days on (and the day after i stop) are quite tough so i'm only getting 2 out of 7 days a week of minimal issues. its great to be me!

Blue Lyme - Can you explain about burning cortisol? I already have adrenal issues...will this make it worse?

Because it is staying in the system on those shortened pulses does that cover the possible renal failure that might come from restarting? That is the danger, right?

I take it every day. My breathing issues have gotten worse and I wake up nightly after an hour of sleep gasping for breath. Seems to have gotten worse since I started the rifampin a month ago. Really wish I could say definitively what is working or not. Or if it's something altogether different.

Could you explain what you mean about renal failure...are you saying starting/stopping/starting..etc can cause renal failure?

I don't think it happens a lot but from other forums/posts I have come across that was the fear. All meds have their risks. Just thought this was the reason in this particular case.

Well the good news is all people recovered.

I don't see a lot of information on it...so I'm thinking it is rare.

Dr.J does M/W/F with a week or two off after a couple weeks on...so I guess he doesn't think the risk is high enough to outweigh the benefits of pulsing.

well dr m says people often fail treatment because they cant handle it ..with liver and cortisol.it burns med twice as fast so pain med need be upped , suppliments ,even doxy has shorter halflife because it is a inducer of cytochrome cp245 or some crap. with inflammation of lyme cortisol is already taxed ...however i was feeling the usual liver lully gag but then was having harder time waking like 2 hrs and lots of b vits and ginsing to operate as a human...i would love a day off.. tried houttynia and trying sida , abart was tasty and so is rife daily..i hate bart

If pulsing the rifampin, should I also pulse the minocycline?
And which one of these 2 drugs should I start with?
Should I start with the minocycline and then add in the rifampin about a week later or vice versa?

I pulsed the mino with the Rifampin.

The protocol I am waiting to start - all the abx will be pulsed too.

you can start either abx, wait a few days, then start the other one.
