mokeyho I beleive that your lesions are Lyme related, and I think that your neurologist gave you some good suggestions, to treat Lyme, and MS meds are steroids anyway, so they are very bad for Lyme patiens. Best of luck

These doctors piss me off with their endless cycle of not remembering what they said and not helping then referring you to their specialist friends that also dont help but want to order expensive tests that dont answer anything. I stepped off of that hamster wheel a while ago. I cant remember who was more useless, my neurologist or dermatologist. I hope you have better luck.

That said every once in a while you do get lucky with a rare doctor who picks a useful test based on a suspicion.

You really have to do your own research and steer some of these doctors but if your problem is one where you know you will get a canned response I cant see the point in enriching these licensed drug dealers.

mokeyho - I am happy that the Neurologist thinks it is Lyme.

BUT, I am not pleased with the fact that he says you don't get rid of it once it's in the brain.

Many people (if not most) who have chronic lyme have it in the brain by the time they are diagnosed and start treatment.
Many, many people DO get well...

If I were you, I'd focus on lyme treatment, stick with the LLMD and push forward...

Thank you all for taking the time to read and offering your input. I am just going to focus on the Lyme and hope that my LLMD stops talking about MS and focuses on Lyme with me. ChickenArise - I was very lucky to have found my LLMD less than 10 miles from my home. All this crap that is happening to me is my own doing, really. Lesson learned, don't stop treatment just because you feel fine. And pay attention to your body so you can recognize things amiss early on. Blueberrymuffin - that's what I want to believe that my lesions are lyme related only. Girlie - I got better once before, so I should be able to do it again. He was saying that it's a lifetime of treatments and not that I won't get better, but more so I will have to treat and monitor forever.

Once you're in remission, then you will be able to stop treatments...but you will want to take care of yourself - for the rest of your life...eat healthy, keep immune system strong...as we have seen time and time again, people relapse.
Sometimes it's a stressful life event...that will trigger it.

Well, I was impressed with the Lyme knowledge the Neuro has!! That was really cool!

I have multiple lesions on my brain - or had. I haven't had another scan to find out though. It was all due to Lyme.

I suggest that we all find a preventative to use, so that you don't end up like me - reinfected and having to go through this yet again.

Before I started treatment in 2009, at the one set, MRI showed 12 lesions, so I found an LLMD and after doing treatment for several months, the next MRI showed four brain lesions. Now I have five or so, so I just don't think it's a big deal. He actually knew who my LLMD is and asked, "he's a cash only doctor, right?" which is not entirely accurate - he takes credit card - he just doesn't work with insurance. But he said he only heard good things about him.

That's wonderful that he had good things to say about him!!! That doesn't happen very often!
