Please share if Alinia did anything for your Babesia

Hello. I'm on Alinia now and I'm naushis and have had headaches. I can't find any solid data that supports it's use for Babesia. I've read that Alinia is used to eradicate intestinal parasites-- not blood parasites like Babesia. I'd love to hear from anyone if they were cured by Alinia. Mepron/Azith has been proved effective for Babesia. There is a lot of data to support this. Does anyone have solid info to support the use on Babesia?

I'd rather not suffer through feeling like crap if it isn't even going to help. Thanks!

Evanston-I'm on Biaxin, Rifampin and Alinia now for Bart and Babs. Did the same combo about 20 months ago. It's by far the toughest combo I've been on in 2 1/2 + years of treating so I feel for how lousy you are feeling but I also saw the biggest results with it five fold of any other med or herb I've been on.

I read the same things you did. No side effects etc and only for giardia. It is being used heavily for Lyme and co patients. So much so that if insurance will not cover they have a program where they will provide 60 pills for $300 for Lyme patients a month.

Hey Evanston-Even though we are all here for a lousy reason I wanted to share with you that I always smile just a bit when I see your screen name. I've lived in Northern California since I was about two (54 now) but I was born in Chicago as was my Dad. He lived in the city but he and his best friend were driven and then drove to Evanston Township High School. Their both 80 now and still best friends.

I live in a great suburb in San Jose. The catch on the West Coast is that most ticks are carried by grey squirrels and they are everywhere including downtown areas. Most people think they are oh so cute. I want to kill them. I'm the first house in a cul de sac. My backyard neighbor has a huge tree in their yard that sits at the back corner of my yard. The squirrels love it. There are at least 2 that live between my yard, their yard and our two courts. Two of them were chasing each other around the tree one day this past weekend. A non lyme person would have thought it adorable....it really kind of was, except they carry ticks!!!

I actually don't think I was bit at my house. I do know that it was a nymph tick. I'd had a cortisone shot (for swelling from surgery) a few inches over two weeks before and thought why do I have a tiny scab there. No idea why I remember that but I realized later that it was the tick. I had a bullseye but had no clue what that meant. My mom has horses and rides all the time in the Santa Cruz mountains and has never had an issue. California is getting hit really hard and people are completely clueless.

If you were here just a few days ago then you hit the only few days without risk of flooding and road closures. Good timing.

I can completely understand how you feel about California now. I'm with you. I won't ever feel comfortable hiking or camping or letting anyone I care about go without telling them everything I have learned.

Interesting that Alinia is a treatment for parasites that cause diarrhea. The first listed side effect: diarrhea. So...how would you know?
