Can fasciculations be the only symptom in Lyme?

I had the bull's eye rash almost 6 years ago but the doctor I saw said it wasn't anything. Then a few months ago I started getting fasciculations or twitching everywhere, legs, arms, hands, back, butt, neck, lips, eyebrow. Once it felt like it was inside my hip joint. The strange thing is that the twitch rhythm seems to be the same; it always starts with two quick ones, then about 5 random ones almost like a heartbeat frequency, then it jumps to another location on my body and then repeats. For people with Lyme that get fasciculations...is my description similar to your experience? Is it possible that Lyme could remain dormant for 6 years and then suddenly appear as a fasciculation? I have testing scheduled at Arminlabs soon to find out for sure.

If twitching is your only symptom at the moment, run and get treatment now! You will not regret it! Getting started on treatment before it evolves into a hellscape would be your best bet! With that rash it's confirmed, you have Lyme.
I do get twitching but it's not constant and has no pattern. It's random. It is annoying though!
You will want a LLMD though, you will likely need a long course of abx or herbs to eradicate an older infection! Glad you found us!

I had twitching (fasciculations) but not muscle spasms - the twitches were all over my body but not any rythym.

Treatment for Lyme has resolved those except every now and then I will get a reappearance for a day or two in one area of my body.

The bullseye rash is a symptom of Lyme - you now have another symptom and blood test to back it up.

If it is an older infection, how long do you think the antibiotics would need to be? 4 weeks? 18 weeks? Would I need to be close to the clinic during that time? I read that IV is better than pill form for your stomach but I'm worried about the duration of being away from family. Having to spend weeks in Germany while my wife and son are in another country sounds terrible. But being cured would be a good thing. Of course I'll ask the LLMD during my visit about all this but I thought I'd ask about everyone's first hand experience with antibiotics.

Are there typically any problems crossing international borders with a few months supply of IV abx?

aerost - welcome to the community. If you had a bulls-eye rash, and you have symptoms (which you do), then seeking treatment is important.

welcome aerost ! i am seeing an LLMD in Southern Germany . I will email you in a while his information . he is very accommodating . IV is done only in his office, though (as far as I know). I do know that he has many patients from abroad , so i could imagine that there could be a way developed for them to do the IV from where they live (though i don't know for sure) .

I picked up Lyme (and Babesia and Bartonella) in the woods of either Czech or Germany (most likely Czech where I did a lot of fishing) in Summer of 2015. The twitches are EXACTLY as you described at least when they first started up. Shortly afterwards (weeks to a month) I had a whole host of issues, including electric shock feelings, Vibrations in my spine, Hip popping and gait problems with walking, massive neuropathic pain in my left calf, heart racing/palpitations, high blood pressure, light/sound sensitivity, gasping for air, memory/cognitive issues and some other things. Most of those things had at least started to clear up before starting abx in April of 16 except for the twitching. The twitching persisted after 6 months of heavy oral abx which is when I decided to try BVT. Since being on BVT for about 4 months my twitches have declined maybe 75%. I am still doing BVT and abx together.

I twitched nearly 24/7 for over a year and really thought the rest of my life was going to be like that. I still have them now but am now much more positive after BVT has lessened them to a great extent. I had them so much and for so long that I had classified them into "types". I had the one and done twitches that would bounce around my body, twitches that would repeat in a pattern like a heart beat in the same spot, twitches that were more like a light buzzing, twitches that are hard and pounding that move clothes, etc. Those occured everywhere but it was 24/7 unrelenting in my left calf, where I believe I may have been bitten.

I also have muscle atrophy mostly on my left side (foot, calf, chest, hand) and that with the twitching was obviously majorly concerning as I thought the only reason was going to be ALS. ALS doesn't make sense though when you consider all my other symptoms.

I would think it very likely that maybe you have a similar strain that seems to cause the twitching and while you may want to try abx I would highly recommend trying BVT first if that is your only symptom because the abx did nothing to clear that up for me.
