I've been on Doxy 1 month and rimfapin almost 1 week and since yesterday am noticing strong nausea. I've heard people talk about
the herxing starts after about
5 days on rifampin. Does this sound about
right? It's not real bad but it's pretty much all day long. I just want to know what to prepare for because I want to add strong babesia meds soon.

Rifampin has a general side effect of nausea, if it doesnt improve or worsen, I would reconsider continuing therapy - you will be miserable if you are nauseous everyday ontop of lyme!!
question - are you following the instructions with doxy? hopefully you were given instructions!!
you can't lay down for at least an hr after taking it, and you must drink a full glass of water with it. Reason being - it can cause irritation to the esophagus as well as the stomach. So make sure it is indeed the rifampin and not the doxy. what doxy dose are you on, may i ask?

200mg twice daily. I took Doxy for 3 weeks with no issues. Is it possible rifampin is starting to work better so I'm getting die off. The only issue is I don't see any symptom relief yet. I'm aware it can take months before i see improvements.

i'm thinking it's a side effect of the rifampin...rather than a herx.
Was nausea one of your symptoms before Rifampin?
When I started Rifampin, I started with approx. 150 mg once daily...then went to 300 , and then to 300 twice daily.
Did you start on lower dose for a few weeks?
As far as improvement goes...yes, it can be months...

I only start slow on day 1 after that my body adjust fast. Im taking 300 twice daily. I have had nausea but not like this. I'm thinking it's the rifampin but who knows. Im due for my second dose of both right about
now. I will try to ride it out but if it gets worse I will talk to my doctor. Its weird because it came out of nowhere yesterday.

I haven't taken my antibiotics today but still getting nausea when I eat. I'm convinced it's babesia like issues and I'm getting Fed up. I feel no better now then I did months ago. I may end up going the smoking route to get relief.
