Hi, I've been stalking you guys for a while & learning things, but I do have a couple questions, so I figured it was time to register. Maybe I should have picked Lucky for a user name. I consider myself lucky that I actually found the tick & removed it before the symptoms hit 5 days later, so when it hit I knew exactly what it was. In fact, it may have been the rage symptom kicking in that made me so impatient waiting for the result of the blood test. Clinical diagnosis was screaming Lyme, but my PCP would not prescribe abx w/out a positive blood test. Fortunately, it was positive, & he started me on Doxy. But the BEST thing he did for me was to recommend that I find a specialist.
I managed to find a LL NMD who is a member of ILADS. His first question was, "HOW did you find us?" Praise God for the internet AND that He let this guy's web site catch my attention. It may seem a tad unusual to have so many Lyme docs in Phoenix, but I think half the population leaves in the summer, so we bring it back from other places. Mine was from the Midwest. I found the tick when I was in IL, but I was on my way back from MI, so I'm not sure from which state it hailed. But this guy told us some horror stories of other so-called Lyme docs in Phoenix that will prescribe the standard 2 wks of Doxy, pronounce patients cured, & when their symptoms return refer them to a psychiatrist. (argh!)
So I've now been on Doxy since 10/16, as well as an herbal regimen that is slowly ramping up. And this is where my questions come in. The herbs I'm taking are different from those recommended by Buhner. Is anyone else out there on Golden Thread & Isatis Root? I'm also on Sida Acuta for Bartonella. In fact, that's how I first found you guys -- searching for info on Sida Acuta! [/img]
I am also on Pau d'Arco for my ongoing candida overgrowth. In fact, that was another bit of "luck". When my doc recommended the Lyme Diet (low sugar Paleo), I realized that it was very similar to what I've been doing for the past 2 yrs to combat the candida. No huge learning curve there, which was definitely a blessing, given the brain fog & fatigue. It was good to have SOMETHING on autopilot.
Now that I have the Sida Acuta ramped up to the prescribed max dose (60 drops twice per day), I can start taking Metronidazole. That was another ? you all answered for me. Why do I need 2 abxs? Thanks for answering that! I was already familiar w/ the fact that Bb takes different forms, so it was all affirmation.
Seems like I had another ?, but I can't remember it now. Brain fog -- like I didn't have enough BEFORE the tick bite. Oh well, now I'm registered, so if/when I do remember it, ... I'll be back.
THANKS for being here!
