Hi I was on sertraline 50mg for 3.5 months I came off them 5 days ago my doctor told there is no with drawls well he must be lying I'm getting brain jolts zaps body shaking I have Lyme I'm sure it not that never had this symptoms from Lyme.. doctor told me to to take half a tablet for 5 days I did but I'm definitely gettin withdrawls from this dirty medications headache filling really dizzy feeling like I'm floating wen I'm trying to sleep did any else get this from going off anti-depressant how long does it last the withdrawals

Sertraline is a SSRI - a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. They definitely cause withdrawals in some people:

Sertraline is a Benzodiazepine (a "Benzo") and benzo's can be addictive. I found help through this site to come off the benzo I took for years: /psychcentral.com/lib/ssri-discontinuation-or-withdrawal-syndrome/

I hope you can get the help you need for this. I was miserable going through the withdrawals and had to do quite a few things to get through it all.

The best thing to do is to have your doc write you another prescription for it, and do a proper weaning under a doctor's guidance - but we can't all find a doctor that even understands this and sometimes we are left on our own to navigate the process.

Ye my doctor hasn't a clue to be honest like told there fine to come off how long did your withdrawls last travler

I didn't ride out the withdrawals. It took me several months (5??) to wean myself down to the point that I could - with a doctor's help - switch to another prescription med that I was able to wean off of fairly quickly (another 2 months) - then on to natural products.

The Benzo I was using was for sleep, but it was an "older" antidepressant (SSRI) - so I had to be careful to be able to sleep, as I was dealing with severe adrenal issues as well.

Ye I'm on sleeping tablets aswell trying to ween of them aswell I'm and same time as anti-depressant my doctor just said there fine to off like doctors don't have a clue weening of to tablets isn't going to be good I'm lost here I'll be ring me doctor 2moro have chat with him loads of people have withdrawls from the brand doctors need to wake up I taught I'd be ok cause 3.5 months isn't that long on them what symptoms did you get with withdraw I no ye never went all the way but was your even at start..
