Hi VCL, I think you are on the money and I've read many times about
candida and the sugar link. I think basically yes the skin issues are caused from candida (thrush) which proliferate because the Lyme is suppressing the immune system.
Did you notice much improvement in your skin issues from addressing Lyme and co.? Or was it only attacking the candida through diet and nystatin that helped? This probably sounds to you like I'm trying to avoid dietary changes, which I am. I eat healthy for the most part but I do enjoy sugar as well.
Besides Buhner's core protocol I have the following herbs lined up:
salvia miltiorrhiza
scutellaria baicalensis
withania somniferum
arctium lappa
echinacea angustifolia
Not to say that the core herbal protocol isn't helping with the skin issues. I've seen improvements. I am still getting flares in certain areas though but maybe this will die down further into treatment.
I've high hopes for the echinacea angustifolia, as was listed here: https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/cure-candida-infection-herbal-remedies.html
I'm definitely prepared to throw in herbal/dietary supplements to the current regime.
Might start supplementing garlic pills.
I use head and shoulders anti-dandruff shampoo which works well so long as I use it everyday.
Nystatin not so keen on because I'm trying to stay as natural as possible.
Do you think candida will be something that keeps coming back until you treat Lyme and co? What's your general philosophy?
p.s. sorry if I come across a bit lazy in posting this. I know a lot of information is available. I fancied a chat about
it really
