Does anyone know of someone that has Tourette symptoms due to Lyme?

I do not. But I have seen twitching frequently listed as a Lyme symptom. And in one of the trailers for Under Our Skin, there is a guy w/ tourette type twitching.

But there are many other symptoms of Tourette's, too, so I'm not sure if this (re: twitching) addresses your question.

As you probably know, people also get 'tics' (no pun intended, hmmmm....) while under stress. Both my youngest brother and one of my sons went thru a period w/ tics that went away.

My son was diagnosed with Tourettes about 13 years ago. He's also had rage, OCD, ADD and been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He was bitten by a deer tick about 14 years ago and was treated with 2 weeks of anti biotics.

Oh my God, jc, I am so sorry. I cannot even imagine how angry you must be! Is there any way to get him some good TBI tests and treatment now? Maybe some of his symptoms can be reversed? Again, I am so very sorry. By now, we all certainly deserve more attention, money and work put into these diseases ticks are carrying! It is WAY past time for ID MDs and others to wake up, apologize and get cracking on this! jeeeesh, how bad does this have to get??

I'm not sure if he has Lyme but I suspect that he may. His test from IgeniX came back negative but he did have a slightly positive band for Babesia.

Do you have a copy of that lab report? Are there any bands w/ positive reactions? Any species specific bands?

Maybe the infection is too old to show up.  What my first LLMD suggested for my son (he had a bull's eye rash when he was 1 yr old that the ER doctor just said "it's not Lyme") is to do a CD-57 and see what his level is.  The test, like all things connected to LD is not conclusive, but if his level is low it could indicate LD.  The test was $141 from LabCorp the only lab you should have it done at.  My insurance dosen't cover the whole thing claiming that it is experiemental but others here have had theirs covered completely.  It involves doing a blood count so that part of the test they covered about $40 worth so it was $100 out of pocket.  Hope this helps.

I'll take him to my LLMD and have his cd-57 count tested.

Many Doctors who have written about Lyme know that Tourettes and OCD can be caused by Lyme. CD 57 is not always an accurte indicator of Lyme. I would take him to a LLMD and get a consultation be sure to give the complete history. His initial treatment was not long enough. A few days ago a forum member PcPc posted and referred to a great but very long paper that also mentions this connection. Read it it is worth it. Blessings

He saw a LLMD about a year ago and his IgeniX test was negative. His babesia had a slightly elevated marker. At the time my son didn't believe that he had either. I still think that he does have Lyme + babesia.

Still, wondering if any of the significant bands were positive? Also, his immune system could be so supressed that he no longer had enough antibodies to show a reaction on the test. I have read that this is common when a person has Lyme. I think you are suspecting Lyme for good reason.

Lyme+, are you still awaiting an apt. with llmd?  Do you want to see Dr. C south of Philly this wed?

Dr. J in CT believes the CD-57 is not reliable in people under 18. Kids can be really sick and have high numbers or be totally healthy appearing with low numbers....It is a good marker for how out of control the lymes is in adults though.

My son is 20 years old and currently going to school and living in Baltimore. His classes end this week so hopefully in the next week or so I'll be able to work on helping him get a diagnosis.

Yes, my son did the marshall protocol plan for 3 years now lyme free they say...but now he has developed tourette like symptoms...so exhausted all the time...it never stops..worse in mornings or when he gets tired...
Anyone have same or similar and know what they recommend?
We are starting back with his original dr to see if he can help us with this..

I was diagnosed with TS 15 years ago and when I'm on antibiotics all my symptoms of TS are lower or non existent. My rage and anger issues are dramatically lower while on antibiotics. On my off weeks my minor tics are back with a vengeance.

Lyme with pandas or pandas alone or lyme alone can cause Tourette's. Has he ever had strep throat?
