I have permanent loss of feeling and nerve damage in my leg from a herniated disc that happened 15 yrs ago. I had constant nerve/muscle pain until 2 yrs ago when a new pain management dr put me on Gabapentin. I've been on the same dose for since day one and it's been a game changer. I'm on the lowest dose (100mg 3x/day) and the only time I need to take an extra pill is if my leg pain increases during my time of the month. I don't use it to sleep, it doesn't work for me.
It's kind of like when you were on mino. You feel sort of drunk and tired for a few weeks and then it goes away. I would start at the very minimum of dosage and wait to see if you need more, but you need to give it time.
Also be careful not to take any other gaba receptor substances with it or it will interfere. I'm taking dhea and didn't have any issues, but when pregnenolone was added, my nerve pain returned. I found out the pregnenolone and gabapentin were competing. I dropped the pregnenolone and the gaba is back to working again.
I think it's worth giving gabapentin a try, it might change your world
