Sida Acuta Side Effects?

I'm new here, and unable to search through old threads because of confusion. I've recently started on sida acuta for bartonella, 1/3 TBS 2x/day. I've been on it for about ten days and have been experiencing some very strange neuro symptoms. Dizziness, confusion, disconnect from reality, fatigue, headache, feel like someone slipped me a sedative. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm also on houtunyia and A-bart by Byron White. Is there anything I can do to limit this reaction? I'm detoxing with sauna and colonics already. Usually I can handle herxes, but this is upsetting and very uncomfortable. Thanks

I'm sorry you are having confusion problems. That does get to all of us here. But if you can, there is a white box above that says "google custom search" in it. I typed in sida acuta side effects Lyme and got several good previous replies.


I've not taking personally, but several on here have and may be of some help.

De-toxing will help you not react quite so strongly to your treatments, herbs or antibiotics. Which ever you may take.

This is a very supportive group. Feel free to share your Lyme story with us so we can get a better idea of what you're dealing with and have done so far.

Sida Acuta is anti bacterial so you are killing bartonella. So you will have die off so it's super important that you detox a lot right now

That is a lot of sida acuta. Last time i took it i got some nasty herxes from a few drops. You are on several powerful antimicrobials so you might need to take it slower. Sometimes as little as one drop increase at a time. Also herxes can come in various flavors. I can't say exactly why, but for the first few weeks i get herxes in my nerves and joints and chest that are annoying but tolerable, and then at a certain point i get slammed with flu, chills, brain fog, nausea, dizziness. They aren't even symptoms i normally have and it's definitely not the sida because i've gotten it on knotweed too. Hard to say if it's another organism, a biofilm being busted, just a deeper part of the infection in the nervous system. Maybe your case is a sida side effect, but my gut still says herx.

So that's 1 tsp 2x daily...that's a lot considering you've only been taking it for ten days. You are herxing from bacteria die-off.
We need to start low dose and titrate up.
Stop the sida for a few days and let the herx subside before starting again.
When you start it again, I suggest you back down on the dose to maybe 3 drops twice daily and stay at that dose for a few days before raising it a couple drops.

So titrate up slowly for each herb.

Focus on detoxing as well.

Hair loss and sleepiness are side effects of Sida, of course the higher the dose the more side effects.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I was very scared when I posted and reading your responses brought me back down a little. Symptoms are much better today after skipping last night and this morning's doses. I've been treating lyme and bart since November 2014 with success. I started those meds very slowly, as in one drop at a time, because I was very susceptible to herxes. In the beginning of last month, my LLMD took me off the A-Bart and houtounyia because I was asymptomatic, but after a couple weeks, symptoms returned. He put me back on those two herbs, and added Sida. I think we were just overconfident because I had been healthy for so long, and started way too much way too quickly. I'll hear back from him tomorrow, but I think you were all very right in that I was just getting mad die off.
and for clarity's sake, I was taking 1/3 teaspoon, not tablespoon. Apologies for my broken brain. It's slightly less, but still too much.

You said you are very susceptible to herxing - what are you doing to help your body detox? We can really have an impact on how well we tolerate treatments if we help our bodies detox.

kkhalsa, from what I have read (and done myself) is not to stop treatment until you are at least 2 months symptom free.

So make sure your symptoms are gone completely for 2 solid months before you stop treatment. Lyme is a sneaky bug and it will hide until you let your guard down. Then when it thinks the coast is clear (as in you quit treatment) it will rear up its ugly head with new symptoms.

Just go super slow with upping and adding herbs. Even though they are not called medicine, they will act like it. So Low and Slow!!

I think sida acuta has ephedrine in it. I've noticed I can't sleep when I take it. I think it's only a miniscule amount of ephedrine, but it doesn't take much to affect me.

I definitely remember seeing a post mentioning sida doing something to do with your dna in some way. Does anybody remember or have any knowledge on such a thing?

I have been having hair loss x 6 months. It started a couple months after staring sida Acura & houttynia. I also take banderol & samento for Lyme. I've lost at least half of my hair. Do you believe it could be from the sida? Thanks

I don't know about the sida acuta and hair loss. But hopefully others' can help with that.
