there are dozens of things but in my experience very few do work. Careful, im talking about
detox here, not anti inflammatory stuff. So what works:
- activated charcoal - perfect gut detox and u know it works because thats what they'll give in ER for most ingested poisonous chemicals
- sauna - buy a portable sauna, does not have to be infrared, drink water and sweat it in the sauna, it always works for me
- red root - for the lymph nodes, we don't know exactly what this does, either helps lymph flow or makes nodes less tender, so it may not be a detox herb maybe anti inflammatory. There are zero (0) studies about
this herb and the lymph. sad.
- massage and exercise (light)
- artichoke - helps relax gall bladder muscles
- drinking more water than usual, i have to set alarms to remember to drink, so 3-4 liters of water per day
that's it, i've tried lots of other things but nothing else worked. if u look at the number of votes on tiredoflyme page you will notice the things i listed above are among the most popular, not because i picked them (there are a few that i havent tried and are not in this list) but because they probably work more often. Probably many of the rest in that list are placebo, or maybe they work for some minority but not for all. It's very easy to get fooled by this disease, the symptoms come and go, you can easily blame it on something u ate/took one-two-three days before it happened...
Now, anti inflammatory - that's something else and that's where there are lots of things that work:
- magnesium but not magnesium oxide
- turmeric (only with black pepper, without it only a fraction gets aborbed)
- melatonin
- vitamin C >300mg
- ibuprofen/acetaminophen
- resveratrol
- vitamin D
- vitamin E
- Omega 3
- EGCG (green tea)
- glutathione IV
- lipoic acid (ALA)
- SLEEP !! (take sleeping pills if u have to, anything to get a 7hrs of sleep or so every night)
ofc for lyme management u need both anti inflammatory and detox. I just think that by detox many people simply understand everything that makes them feel better during a herx. And that includes anti inflammatory drugs or herbs or supplements. But ibuprofen certainly is not detox, although it does help with inflammation and will make u feel better...
