Is there an official definition of what makes a doctor an LLMD? Just wondering.
Our story goes like this: My daughter started experiencing some mild depression about a year or so ago. We had her start seeing a counselor. Six months later, after working hard with her counselor and doing all the things that should help naturally lift depression, we could see that she was declining. It happened so very gradually that it took awhile for us to notice.
Once we noticed how much she was suffering, I was determined to get her in for a check-up. I chose to call a new clinic that some of my friends have been happy with. The woman who made the appointment for me recommended a certain doctor there who has experience with teens. At the appointment, one of the first questions the doctor asked was if I had reason to believe my daughter had Lyme. I was 100% sure she did not. The doctor said she sees depressed teens who test positive for Lyme all the time. She (the doctor) ran a several blood test (thyroid, etc.) and they all came back normal except for the Lyme. IGM band 23.
This doctor seems experienced with Lyme and has successfully treated it in the past. I don't know if that makes her officially an LLMD. She has my daughter on Cefdinir (Doxy made her sick to her stomach), vitamin D, vitamin B6, probiotics, and grapefruit seed extract. The doctor also recommends a clean diet, Epsom salt baths, Alka Seltzer Gold, exercise, bone broth, and other things. This doctor said she will keep my daughter on the anitbiotics until one or two months after all symptoms are gone. Maybe I'm still too new to this, but it seems like we are on the right track. I realize there can also be co-infections and will be asking about that at the next appointment.
Thanks for listening!
Well, it does sound like she is Lyme Literate...especially since she is accepting the one band only as her having lyme disease (along with her symptoms)
Cefdinir is a good antibiotic for lyme. But, one antibiotic isn't enough...usually a second one is added...maybe she is waiting for the next appt to add a second one. When is the next appointment?
That is good that she will keep her on the antibiotics for an extra month or two after symptoms resolve.
I think at the next appt. you should ask if she plans on adding a second antibiotic to the first one.
The GSE is used for cyst busting.
She has also recommended some good detoxing; epsom baths, alka seltzer gold, clean diet, etc.
