My doc says that this is verdict for my high Iron and low Ferritin. Anyone have experience with this? I'm still pretty concerned about my bone issues (I have growths all over my bones that haven't been figured out yet) as red blood cells come from there. I had an appointment with my Doctor again yesterday and I am feeling more relieved talking to him.

IHL - did you have the calcium and parathyroid hormone blood tests done?


I had low ferritin...but my iron levels in my blood wasn't checked.

I go in tomorrow for those tests and to get the plan ready for surgery.

How low is your ferritin?

I haven't checked again.

It was 25 then 45 and then 40

When I got the 40 I was concerned because it had dropped...but I had forgotten about the 25 I had tested over a year prior...so now the 40 doesn't sound too bad.

I'm not supplementing iron...but will retest soon

You are having the parathyroid surgery?

Did they actually find something with imaging?

Did you check out that site about parathyroid that I linked in your other thread?

You should try and get the whole panel. Especially TIBC. I keep hearing how iron and ferritin levels don't carry much weight when it comes to HOW your body is able to use it. If your levels are off its treatable and can relieve quite a few symptoms! Push for it, Girlie!

Wouldn't I have symptoms of fatigue?


I will ask...but not sure if she will give it to me.

My hemoglobin, Hemocrit , and RBC count are all good...I doubt it she'll give me the TIBC

Why wouldn't she? Thats stupid! I haven't noticed any difference in my fatigue at all since this started.

The surgery is for adhesions. my uterus, bladder and intestines are all stuck together again. I haven't got my PTH results yet for the parathyroid part, but I did go to the website you linked to. My calcium level itself isn't high, so my doctor is confused about if these are calcium deposits on my bones.

She has sent me for a ton of tests early on...and still does more testing than your average GP...but if there's nothing indicating the need to test my iron levels...I doubt if she would.

Maybe if my Ferritin drops next time...but if it maintains...or goes up...I doubt it.

Hmm... Maybe you should get an ECP level done then? I know its an indicator for babs which really messes with iron and RBC

I just recently started treatment for Babesia so will see what happens.

Hoping I get some improvement and can get rid of the rest of my symptoms.

What is ECP?

so I looked up Hemolytic Anemia - and looked at causes a couple stood out:

certain infections- viral or bacterial
autoimmune disorders...

Those could be from Lyme.


I looked at the symptom list...and doesn't look like something I have.

Bartonella infects the bone marrow ...and causes calcium deposits ....it is the source of my shin bumps ,thrombocytopenia, and low iron ferritin

Getting your ECP checked.

If it's elevated, it's likely because of Babesia.

Like with everything though, a normal level doesn't mean you don't have Babesia.
